Did God create the universe?

Mibn2cweus (Mibs) posted a really interesting video that I think a lot of people may have missed - Stephen Hawking asking 'Did God create the Universe'. It's not mind-blowing - well at least its language isn't - so if you're interested in his answer, it's here.

Purposeful, intentional creation came into existence following a billions years old process culminating in a extremely complex highly evolved entity within a tiny corner of a vast universe, a being with the capacity to imagine and believe in the existence of that which could not possibly exist until that process, begun by gravity and mediated by exploding stars, was complete.

Elderman, you read the bible, but like all people of religion, you see only what you want to see. I've said this to you before, but perhaps you missed it. According to the bible, Adam and Eve were not the first people on earth.
The right to 'go our own way' most certainly belongs to us - and fortunately there are some who, very sensibly, choose to disregard the highly questionable ethics your god endorsed. Going by his track record if we all kowtowed to the antiquated philosophies that 'faith' in the god of Abraham promotes, this world would be in a sorrier state than it's in already because much of the misery it has suffered, and still suffers, is directly attributable to organised religion.

True to some organised religion,but Some people would likely say that it foolish to be honest. But popular opinion is an unreliable guide. For example, if you had lived in a society where the majority believed that child sacrifices were acceptable, as some societies in the past have thought, would that have made the practice right? (2 Kings 16:3) What if you had been born into a society that viewed cannibalism as a virtuous act? Would that have meant that eating human flesh was not really wrong? The popularity of a practice does not make it right. Long ago, the Bible warned against that trap, saying: “You must not follow after the crowd for evil ends. (Exodus 23:2)
One main reason we have so much fraud today is because we live in an extremely unethical society. There’s been a sharp slippage in ethics that has inspired a culture of fraud. . . . I think you'll find that many atheists are far more 'Christian' than most Christians!

I take great umbrage at the suggestion that only Christians follow bible principles.
The bible principles which they spout are, in fact, principles that in the normal couse of events civilised human beings will follow anyway.
I am about as unreligious as it is possible to get - the absurd notion of a god is right up there with leprachauns and fairies at the bottom of the garden - and yet I've managed to reach 40 without mudering anybody!

Biblical Principles?
Like prejudice against women and gay people? Like massacring those who hold different values because God told you to do it?
Like damning children in the name of God for laughing at your bald head and having God send bears to tear them apart?
Like obeying God when He suggests you should ritually slaughter your son?
Like continuing to support God even as He killed your family just to prove a point to Satan.
Like offering your virgin daughters to those who want to rape you guest and finally settling on handing over your house keeper who they rape to death? Then carving up her dead body and sending the parts to your relatives to show how bad some people can be.
Like tearing the unborn babies from pregnant women and slaughtering them in front of their dying mothers?
Like enslaving those for the treachery of tricking you into not massacring them as God had demanded?
Like killing the whole family of a man who had kept some of the spoils of your gang's murderous looting?
Bible principles are based on the very worst of human greed and prejudice. Those who respect the Bible are sick indeed.

Yes,Around the world, people would answer that question in many different ways. The apostle Paul observed: “There are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords,’” and today the gods worshiped number into the millions. (1 Corinthians 8:5) Did you know, however, that many people worship a different god from the one they think they are worshiping? And did you realize that many atheists are more devout than those who believe in a god?
