Did I Have A Miscarriage?
12 Answers
Hi, I'm 16 and a few months ago I think I had a miscarriage. It's too late to really know the true answer, I know, but it's been tearing me apart and I'm curious. Before I felt like I had a miscarriage, I was feeling what seemed like pregnancy symptoms. I should have gotten a test but I didn't. Anyways, I felt exhausted (mentally), tired, nauseous, thirsty, moody and I felt different down there not in a painful way. I felt like that fluttery feeling. There was a few more but I want to get down to the painful details. I just want an answer. No: "You should have gotten a test." "You should have told your mom." etc. It's too late. I understand I failed at being responsible with this. I just want my question answered.
It might be a lil graphic or make people grossed out so I'm sorry.
After a few weeks of feeling like this, I had a late period. If I recall it was around 4 - 5 days late. So around the 4th or 5th day of being late I woke up sweating and having slight cramping. I was relieved because I thought I was having my period. After about 50 minutes it got really bad. I never felt so much pain from a "period" before. It was unbearable and so I tried taking a shower to calm down. I went to the bathroom before I wanted to take a shower and I had so much blood coming out.. It wasn't a normal period flow. It was kinda like dark brownish reddish clots/clumps. So much. It felt like someone was digging their way out of me with their fingernails to be completely honest. It just kept on getting worse. So I yelled for my mom and she sat there with me. I was feeling like I was going to pass out. I got extremely hot and I couldn't keep my head up and felt like I was falling asleep and I felt like I was going to throw up on top of that. After my mom got me to my senses a little bit she helped me to the bathtub and let me soak in warmish/coldish water because of how hot I was feeling and I was screaming from the pain I was feeling down there. Literally. After I calmed down a little she helped me to bed and I laid there with a heating pad on my stomach and took some pain pills and fell asleep. I woke up feeling better but still queasy and a little crampy, I wasn't bleeding as bad now. But it wasn't like a normal period where its just there. I didn't really bleed as much for the next 2 days it was tiny drops, then it stopped. After the weekend I felt nothing. I didn't feel cramps. I didn't feel what felt like pregnancy symptoms. Nothing. And it's been killing me to know what happened or what it sounds like happened.. I just want to know if I was pregnant and had a miscarriage or if it was just something else. Thank you.

You were very early on so most of the symptoms wouldn't show at all, certainly not being able to feel the baby "flutter". Sadly, hundreds of miscarriages happen every day, and some women never know if they were pregnant - you need to put this one down to experience, and not brood over it,. there is nothing you can do now.
Did your mom not suggest that you should see the doctor after this happened?
Next time, if there is one - get a test, you can do it very early on these days. It might not stop you having a miscarriage again, but at least you'll know.

I remember (years ago) I had a party of Italian school kids in my work place and one of the girls who was 15 years of age bled so much that she couldn`t really have been experiencing anything else but a miscarriage. There was no other explanation for that amount of blood. She didn't have pain and she thought it was just a heavy period. Common sense said that it wasn`t though. Try not to worry too much - these things happen and they are part of life.
If it was a miscarriage when you really were only a few days late, it may have been an ectopic pregnancy. If it was, you may find one of your fallopian tubes has been damaged. A slightly late period is not really likely to have caused such appalling pain ( I know - I have had one miscarriage, if not 2) so get your tubes checked or you may suffer reduced fertility in future. You may be liable to infections if damage exists and is not treated.
