Onwards and Downwards Continues in February 2015
Hello all,
Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
With Valentine's Day just around the corner how about some healthy alternatives to chocolates. Here is one idea from xstitcher:
http:// allreci pes.com /recipe /dietet ic-bana na-nut- muffins /
She says "These are really good and not naughty. I threw in a handful of dried cranberries when I made them yesterday. You could put on a dollop of Greek yogurt drizzled with a bit of honey and stick an edible red heart on the top. These are not naughty and well worth the investment of the Stevia sweetner."
I also did a bit of googling and came up with these:
http:// www.who lefoods market. com/rec ipe/lem on-trea ts
http:// www.who lefoods market. com/rec ipe/no- bake-th umbprin t-cooki es
both of which are completely sugar free :-)
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Hi Again Maydup. Now just to verify that what I say works I can tell you that since getting Diabetes type 2 and having a blood sugar count of 115 I have lost 15 kilos, gone down 4 to 5 top sizes (depending on the style) and my blood sugar is 44 with just 2 pills a day...... normal is 31 to 44. I'm saying this so you can see that what I am doing is working.... forget the blood...

It's almost impossible to enjoy a holiday without putting on weight
Lynda so don't beat yourself up about it. Now a good aid for you is to do a week or half a week's menus and make up your shopping list from that. If you keep this up you will find that you can make up your menus very easily. I write mine in a book with the name of the cook book and page for easy reference if necessary. I hope this helps get you back in the zone!
Well done you OG. That is the best result you've had in ages....good lad!
What was your colesterol Jomlett?

I am really watching my weight, but everyone says 'You will need to exercise'and that's where my problems start, the only thing I can think of doing is going to the baths,i can only swim a little bit but I walk up and down in the water for3/4 hour.any other exercise you can think of apart from chair stuff ?
Thanks for the encouragement.
Don't think I can resist watching progress as the week goes on, but it is up and down. Today's reading was higher than yesterday's too, but that maybe because I was working a normal day and then a night shift (of sorts, support role) too, during which I ate and drank when normally I'd be asleep. Since this is going to be a "shorter day" maybe it'll be further good news tomorrow.
(PS Also all my usual fortnightly tavern drinking buddies called off this last Saturday, one with a cold, the other didn't say but probably saw the weather and thought twice, so that was an additional help. More along the lines of less Saturday excess than a 'within goal' day.)

I am unconvinced one needs exercise to lose weight Kate. I'm sure it helps a little, and is good for your health anyway; but I'd not lose any sleep over only getting minimal exercise as far as weight loss is concerned.
I'd agree though that swimming is a good option. The buoyancy helps you and gives a gentle workout taken at your own pace.

I'm not beating myself up about it - I go on holiday very regularly. However, I don't usually put any weight on for some reason. I made the mistake of not getting straight back on it after Christmas because I knew we were going away mid January. My next venture is back to Portugal at Easter, then corfu in June. I've already lost about 3 st - could be more, could be less, I treated myself to some accurate scales so have no idea really of what I started at
Swimming or anything done in the water is so good for you Kate. Try do exercises while in the water. I'm sure that you can Google loads of them. Since I began my walking I've had a slow but steady weight loss, plus soooo much more energy. I know my diet also has a lot to do with it but I'm definetly an advocate of walking if you can do it. I'd be in the pool if I lived near one...lucky you Kate!
