She brings much needed attention to climate change. Perhaps if you thought about that instead of slagging her off the planet would have a better future.

Maybe she should keep activism to school holidays, work hard get qualifications to validate her speeches. I think she has been a big thumbtack in the bum of complacency but others need to pick up the torch now.

Johnk, people are getting fed up with people like Greta and now there’s Chris Packham on TV telling us to stop having kids to save the planet! , preaching at them, perhaps he should take his message to places like India and Africa and hers to China ??

Rowan is spot on. Ive defended Greta on AB a fair few times from more personal attacks and abuse (and that's a thankless task, believe me) but it's time for her to take a back seat. Her message has to be carried by older, more knowledgeable people now. She's too young to have to shoulder this responsibility.

It's been carried by older, more knowledgeable people for the better part of 50 years or more, with little meaningful effect. There's something to be said for the fresh, young approach.

That's not to say that it should be any less heard. If climate change is suddenly not spoken about, then it will be gradually ignored, especially when climate change deniers inhabit some of the most powerful offices on the planet.

Whether she is right or wrong is not really the issue, the majority of adults resent being lectured to by children.

True Jim, but now Greta has opened up new discussions, she shouldn't be relied on to be the spokesperson for eco matters. She's done her bit, at least until she is old enough to decide for herself whether to continue. She should take a back seat and concentrate on her education.
