Is this an English thing never heard of this until I moved to Norfolk. Though my parents would put out a plate with shortbread, cheddar cheese, and black bun.

I do home made pork pies as well , big ones, but this is the first time I have heard the term 'stand pie'.
Must be a Yorkshire thing EDDIE the large pork pies are usually called stand pies, made with cold water pastry - can't remember why. Kate and Sidney is our usual Steak and Kidney pie douglas.
In Norfolk, they use excess fingers and toes over five on the hands and feet instead of sausages in the rolls....
