Its no good cutting off unfranked stamps and re-using them - P.O. won't deliver and recipient has to pay about £1.50 to collect. I get loads of unfranked and do so every year but they all go in the bin now after grumbles from friends who've had to pay up.
I thought the stamps were now made in a form which falls apart when you try to reuse them. I know I tried to get one off the other day and it just broke down the middle in two places. I think Royal Mail have got wise to it.
I have had several cards which have not been franked. I carefully peel off the stamps and reuse them. I think that if they have been cut out and it is obvious then maybe the automatic franking machines toss them out.
Please don't give away all our secrets to beat the rising cost of postage! I have been carefully re-using for quite a while. I though perhaps the Post Office frankers were on strike?
Dont throw the stamps away, several charities still use them to raise money, all mine go to the donkey sanctuary and they are always grateful. Several of my quizzers send theirs to me when they send their quizzes in and i forward them as a job lot to the donkeys - well not actually the donkeys but you get the pictue!!
They do split if you pull them off quickly, the secret is to warm them slightly, between your hands will do, then peel carefully and stickon to another envelope straight away. Or as Petal says, put a blank label over the address and reuse the envelope, Clever one that Petal, i will try that next time i get one. X
