I'm meeting up with an old school friend next week.

The last time I went to a school reunion I was stunned at how the classroom cliques still existed. I'm confident that next weeks meeting will be a more positive experience though!

Would you want to meet up with complete strangers that you have nothing in common with apart from a few years of sharing a class room? Or do you think it is an opportunity to grow a friendship?

Absolutely not. I've kept in touch with the ones I wanted to keep in touch with. I'm Facebook friends with a few of the others and that's enough for me. I have no desire to actually spend any time with them.
not a chance on this earth would i go to a school reunion
No I feel if I'd liked them I'd have kept in touch... I doubt I'd have anything in common with them and most of them made my schooldays a living hell
I'm still friends with my school mates.
No thank you.
I'vve kept in touch with those that matter and have blissfully ignored all the rest.

Yes....why not?...complete strangers can be more interesting than so called "friends"

Remember that complete strangers may become good "friends".... unlikely, but they may do ;-)
nope i keep in touch with those i want to
Some of the girls I went to school with who I have on Facebook are total drama queens. The only reason I keep them on there is because it's like my own episode of Jeremy Kyle.

I'm happy to keep them at arms length.
I met up with an old school friend just before last Xmas...............never again she was seriously weird!!
A friend is just a complete stranger you have learnt to tolerate.

I thougt I might meet some when my old school had an open day just prior to it being razed to the ground, but I didn't recognise anyone. Had very few contacts from FRiends Reunited either. The ones that did send a message I can't recall.
No, it wouldn't hold an interest for me.
I could go to certain pub on a Saturday night and it'd be like a school reunion anyway.
They're not really complete strangers though are they.

Just the bitches and weirdo's we purposely avoided in the class room. :)

LOL Evian - I have classmates on FB that are like that too!

There are one or two from my class that I would like to have kept in touch with and wonder where they are now.

Leaving school in the pre-internet era meant that maintaining contact was a more formal exercise - letters, visits, phonecalls. FB and FR has opened up a more casual form of contact - at least it gives an opportunity to see if any of your classmates are complete weirdos!

From a Jim Reeves song.

"A strangers just a friend you do not know".
I haven't been to any reunions or met up with any old school friends. I live a few hundred miles from where I went to school so have no chance of bumping into any of them thankfully. My school years were not the best time of my life and I was glad to leave them behind.
I've kept in touch with two friends from school for over fifty years .We meet up as often as we can and exchange letters and emails .
We are and always were very close considering the different paths life has taken us on .
Funnily enough we went to a reunion a some years ago and bumped into a girl who was in our class and it was great ..so I now have another old "friend " and we all keep in touch .
