For all of you who buy things online, whether it is ebay or hotels, flights, car insurance etc I recommend you to join up to quidco. All you have to do is access the website you are buying on through their page and get, an often very generous, cashback. Today I wanted to look for a new car insurance and went on the site to look at what deals they had going. Without naming names, found an insurer offering 65 pounds cashback with 3 months free insurance. Quickly went for this when I found it worked out half the price of my current insurance which runs out in April.

I've not heard of this site before - definitely worth a look. Is there a catch?

No real catch- except you sometimes have to wait a couple of months before merchants pay the cashback, and their is a £5 annual admin fee which is taken from the first £5 cashback you receive.

I also recommend topcashback.com which has no annual fee.

I usually get a couple of hundred pounds a year in cashback

No there is not Boxtops. They just offer a list of money back like X holiday company offer 12% discount if you go through us etc. Presumably the compaies give money to quidco for the people they get through them. The consumer can only win like this. I have been with them now for more than a year and had back about £400. My daughter has been with them at least a couple of years and had hundreds of pounds cash back. They put it back into your bank.

Like factor says you have to wait for the cash to come back to you and occasionally it can be a lot wait, not usually though.

Just reserve your judgement until you have to renew that insurance next year. Its surprising what offers you can get when they are taking you on in the first year.
