What Happened To Size 12/14

I have been wearing size 12/14 for years, but have found that size is becoming rare, 10/12, is too tight, 14/16,is too big, a size seems to be missing lately, seperates that come in a 14 can vary a lot and means trying on lots to get the right fit, has anyone else, had this problem, or am I being awkward?

That seems to be a current fashion thing in some shops it seems. They think people want the grungy sleeves flapping over their hands look. I used to have the problem of sleeves being too short. Now, as you say, they're often too long. I give up, even expensive brands have strange sizing. :)

I told my sister-in-law she will have to start knitting, but as she says the knitting yarn and patterns are so expensive these days, like wise with dressmaking patterns and matterials, not that I would attempt to make jeans anyway.
