Buying Jeans.

Am I alone in hating buying jeans?
I wear jeans most days and am happy to spend a fair bit on a pair to get a good fit, but trying to find a good fit is almost impossible.
I find a pair in the shop that seem to fit and are a bit tight so I'm confident that after wearing them for a while they will relax and I will be comfortable. But there's the problem some relax to a size larger and some don't give at all.
Last year I bought a pair of jeans and they were a really good fit, I went to replace them this year with the same style from the same shop and I could barely pull them up over my bum.

Either that or I can't get the length. If I get the length, then they gape at the waist and are baggy on the hips. Many moons ago I used to be able to go buy jeans in america, walk in jeans shop and buy Gloria Vanderbilt tall slim fit size 6 - they were to the ankle, to the waist, didn't bag at the hip and had a nice body length. If I'd have known, I was going to stay at the same weight a I have I'd have bought a dozen pairs!
