Bought one yesterday for sista - now I have seen a nicer one in another shop. Box not opened or anything but if I bring it back what can I say the reason was.

Changed my mind?

How receptive is this shop to returns?
Question Author
that's the point Ozzy - a bit unsure - quite a large shop but unbelievable that about 10 assistants do not have a happy outlook on life - they have all big gobs on them - do think they have been trained that way LOL
//do think they have been trained that way //

No I don't Jenny, probably just gobby morons that know no better.

If your item is still packaged take it back, stand your ground and see what happens.
oz is right Jen. Just say you've changed your mind and ask for a refund, they have to comply.
Question Author
ok - thanks for that - am a wee bit nervous knowing the faces - I am afraid of them saying "well if it is unable how do you know that if it hasn't been opened.

I do know another friend of mine did open her box but unfortunately took the wrapping off the actual line and they steadfastly refused to reimburse her.
Question Author
Do they to have to comply since the article is not broken etc. I'll try anyway.
Give it a go Jenny.

Show them you are not to be trifled with.

Worst case scenario is you're stuck with the item you bought.
jen if the packaging is intact they have to give you a refund by law. I think there is a time limit, so the sooner you do so the better.
They do NOT have to give you a refund if there is nothing wrong with the lamp. They may give you your money back but they are under no obligation. They may offer you a credit note, again, for goodwill.
Just checked. bhg is right.
^ Yes if the item is not faulty the shop does not have to give you your money back or a credit note. Many will do it but they do not have to.

thanks all - will update you whatever happens. am off to doctor's this morning and shop is near - good morning all
just say that you bought it as a gift but recipent has one the same already, if it is unopened then most retailers will oblige. I have never had any trouble myself when doing likewise
Jenny....just be honest. The shop is under no obligation to refund you, but if you smile sweetly and ask nicely, maybe they will !
The shop would probably be happy to swap the lamp for another, but I doubt very much they'll refund your money. You can try though.
Have you thought that your sister may actually prefer the first lamp to the other one? can you show her pictures of both and ask which she prefers?
Question Author
A wee update - looked for a friendly lady and got the refund on the lamp. Yeeha - then went and got her the other one in the other shop.

I have done all my Xmas shopping for sister - the rest get money.

Also my cousin and her daughter have begged just for a card and no money. So I will gladly honour that LOL
