My sons GF ordered a shop with Deliveroo, for her mother, that included £30 worth of tobacco.
Said order was dropped on doorstep minus tobacco.

Numerous phone calls later, keep getting told that small print requires signature for age related product (fair enough...she wasn't home at the time of delivery).
However, thats all we are getting.
Keep on asking about a refund or tobacco been delivered and been told that its in the small print about age restricted items been signed for!
Manager rang back & when asked about a refund or delivery promptly terminated the call.

EH?
Surely a company cant retain £30 for an undelivered item?
Any advice/help appreciated
Thanks.

(All a bit of a ball ache with everything been on line nowadays, used to have a Trading Standards Office on my door step at one time)

My view is that your son's GF has no recourse. She (or someone over 18) was not there to sign for age restricted products. Consequently, according to the terms she must have accepted at purchase, Deliveroo are entitled to charge her and not deliver the product. //and is the tobacco on the receipt?//

Im a techno thickie bednobs so dont understand how an item could appear on a reciept, sorry!
All I know is that it was ordered and not arrived (as aknowledged by Deliveroo) but they insist that its their right to retain moneys paid.
Did someone sign for it????
To be clear.....no one was in so the groceries were left on the doorstep? have you got any proof that the tobacco wasn't stolen?
ok gotcha - i was thinking that if it was left on the doorstep because there was noone in, someone could have nicked it
Don't you get a paper receipt with it nailitt?
with a deliveroo delivery, they give you a receipt, like when you go shopping. Things appear on there in the same way things always appear on shop receipts
receipt? I don't use deliveroo, do they send you a text or email telling you what was delivered? Do they give you a paper bill/receipt telling you wnat was delivered?

According to Deliveroo, no age restricted items would have been left on doorstep or anywhere else (there words).
But not their responsibility apparrently!
£30 pounds worth of goods gone missing but nothing to do with them...

If they accept it didnt arrive then they cant expect you to pay
so was anyone in?
Sorry its not making sense to me. Good luck with sorting it
Bednobs nailitt has already said no-one was in.
I fear we may, as usual, be missing at least one piece of vital information that will only surface after a lot of to-and-fro and hot air.
