why do Londoners say things differently
such as "you was" and "somefink"
no offence to anyone but I find it puzzling to say the least

Owdham used to have a wonderful broad lancashire accent an outsider would struggle with my father, ex, a cockney he was working with said i fink it looks like rain, dost , father replied meaning do you, dust be f-----d, i said rain. now its mainly urdu you hear, a sign of the times
Crivvens, jings and help ma boab - hello from Dandy/Beano land. Have been teaching my grandaughter some of our lovely Dundee expressions - Eh'll hae a plehn peh an' an ingin ane an a'. Awa ye numpty, eh'll stick yer heid doon a cundie etc. Just love different accents.
hc. It is a subjunctive after if. 'were' is the past subjunctive of the verb to be. O.K.?
