Someone hands you a sealed envelope. Inside is the exact day, date, and time of your death, even the cause of your death. In all honesty, would you open the envelope?. I just wouldn't have the bottle !!!.

YEP definately, you would live the rest of yor life to the max, enjoying and savouring every moment and event, no matter how big or small.  When you are faced with your own death you will realise how much we take 'life' for granted.
First things first: it would depend on who - and possibly where they were - handed the envelope to me.
I would, I have never liked suspense and agree with emmalee.
I know this is all hypothetical but if it were possible to know how and when one would die, would it not be possible to avoid it?
I'd rather not know!    Ostrich that's me!
Yes

lara - It would be nice to plan the rest of the time you had left with your family - but then again, I think I'd screw it up & hope for the best!

Yes, ditto emmalee.
If he looked like the Grim Reaper nope!!
I'd open it, I'm such a stickybeak I'd have to know...but then again I like Corby's suggestion as well.

Oh gosh - I really don't know - I mean it's not like Xmas presents - sneaking a look - I think I would want to know, but don't think I could handle it.  Knowing that the time and date was creeping nearer and nearer, and having to cook on your last night, cleaning the house , laying out one's clothes - no don't think so!!

netibiza, the date is creeping nearer and nearer. You seem to be coping ok. The question is hypothetical, but you might compare it with the case of people whose doctors have given them a year (or whatever) to live. How do they get on?
I would have to open the envelope.  Definitely.

This idea is explored by Robert Heinlein in a short story called "Life-line" part of the "Past Through Tomorrow" collection 1967. Fascinating story, the Life assurrance problems alone fascinate. See Here:

yes
I would probably slit my wrist on the envelope trying to open it knowing my luck!
I wouldn't want to know!
Yes jno - it may be my time tomorrow - who knows - but I think I'd rather just go innocently not knowing when and just leave the house as it is (its always pretty clean)
but yet our mighty lord know ! i would not want to know. i would have to burn it. if you look at it you will drive yourself insain. it's not worth it. i want to enjoy the time i have left with my children. not live in fear for the rest of my life.like if it said next week i'll be in a car accident and die. i would be too paranoid to enjoy whats left of my life. i'll stck to trusting in the lord. he know's it all!
Absolutely.
