Again, as usual, he's confused his OP by not making it clear what he's really talking about (Female jockeys / female muslim jockeys / ladies only charity races / ladies only charity races which have a muslim taking part). The thread will therefore go off at wild tangents, giving AOG 'wiggle room' to not answer direct questions and, instead, pick on irrelevancies to work in phrases like 'the likes of you'.

Clearly the young lady concerned doesn't think her faith is a particular talking point - but she is happy to be a role model for other young ladies of her age in terms of trying racing as a hobby.

As advised, that's the Mail's antenna tuned to the word 'Muslim' al day every day, and making a nonsensical point out of it.

A 'ladies race' is common practice to ensure an even field of jockey's abilities, and also weights, which male jockeys probable could not get down to- and that is you AOG making a pointless point also!

YMB, the DM readers are famed for being able to be wound up with headlines like this. It doesn't mean the Beeb doesn't have it's fair share. It's true that the Mail does praise the achievements of the lady jockey, but that's in the text - the 'Muslim' bit is in the headline, to be sure their Muslin-hating readership don't miss it.

I looked at it a bit differently then. I took the Muslim bit in the headline to mean it is a great achievement for the first Muslim woman to be a jockey. A celebration.

If it was the first legless person to be a jockey, for instance, I'd expect the headline to reference that.

A nice idea - but I would suggest that if you think the Mail is writing anything to 'celebrate' Islam, it suggests that you are not a regular Mail reader!!
