My user name sounds fast, sporty ,ready for anything! The truth is I had my photograph taken in a group of people for a local newspaper I watched the photographer write down my name and I thought at the time ' I wonder how he can understand his own writing 'and when my picture and name appeared as Noel Quattro I realised that he could'nt understand his own writing as my name is as far from his interpretation as a Quattro is from a wheelbarrow.

my username, thanx for asking, comes from a clue in the first adventure game I played, in 1981. It was Colossal Caves. I think it was 'the first' computer adventure, written by 'Will Crowther' it was a text only game and fascinating. Still obtainable see; http://www.rickadams.org/adventure/c_xyzzy.html
My story is very boring. The name just popped into my head and I thought it sounded good. It doesn't mean anything. See, told you it was boring. (PS to xyzzyplugh, I always thought the very first adventure was just one called 'Adventure'. Mind you, I don't know much about the early days of adventuring, so I'm probably wrong!)
Great answers, everyone, cheers for that. Surprisingly, I don't have jet-black hair, although for many years I did, hence the nickname Raven. I think the first user name I ever needed had to be more than five letters, so I stuck the "hair" bit on. I have now mellowed in my old age to very dark brown hair. No Book of Spells, TW, but I do have a black cat . . .
