With the 2006 Olympics in Germany now only a few months away, do you think our athletes will be fit for the occasion. They have given their all in Adelaide and I don't think its fair to expect more peak performances from them, with so little rest in between. What do others think?
Have you still not got used to casaespana's inimitable sense of humour, laurence? You haven't been paying attention!
You scamp, CE :-)
Personally, I don't know why the Olympics are in Germany anyway, seeing as Greece won the last one. Of course, I only watch it for Terry Wogan's sarcastic comments and the hilarious voting.
I dont know what all the fuss is about.
These so called athletes get paid a million pound a week and they just have to work once every four years.
Call that work? Hopping and skipping and going to the swimming baths? I have to pay to get in the baths round our way and these prima donnas get in for free and as well as getting paid 2 million pound a week.
If i turned up at work once every 4 years and just hopped and skipped my boss would probably say something like "Didn't i sack you two years ago?"
When i was lad Roger Bannister had to pay to run- and he was glad of it. He held down a proper job in the week as well, as a private detective on a local radio station. Or was that Sebastian Coe?
That Mickey Rooney is over rated anyway - and why hasnt Sven called up Terry Henry, he can play a bit?
Don't forget, they've also got the Eurovision Song Contest, Miss World and Celebrity Deal or No Deal to contend with between now and this summer. Some of our stars are certainly going to be knackered come the start of the grouse-shooting season.
it's every 2 years now gary because of the winter olympics, which is a diabolical liberty. The 11-man bobsleighs should be worth watching as this mostly involves sitting on a tea tray and falling off a hill, which is all most athletes are good for anyway.
