the elderly
people act as though their going to stay young all their life and won't become grandads or grandmas! the elderly have served the communities we live in so they deserve peace of mind. and i'd just like to say thank you to all the elderly people on AB for everything

And you others? It's hard I know, but try to imagine looking through a 78/80 or 90 year olds eyes for a minute. You have heard many a one say "When I was young ....!!", but it's true to say that they, and me, were brought up with a very different set of values. Politeness, helpfulness, thoughfulness, respect and a sense of community are things that have long been forgotten in this new world of materielism and selfishness. In fact no-one much seems to care for anyone except themselves.
My nan is 86 and is no different mentally to how she was in her 40's (albeit forgetful sometimes!)
I guess it would stand to reason that if an elderly person is nasty then they were probably not that different when they were younger ;o)
Age shouldn't necessarily bring respect ~ and an awful lot of OAPs aren't willing to practice what they preach.
Although I do agree when it comes to thugs..they really should leave old folk alone ~ in fact they should leave everyone alone!
I expect we did exactly the same when we were young and didn't always stop and consider that we would be old one day. Sadly it comes to all of us, so the bottom line is .....be nice to everyone, whatever age.
