I met him doing a video shoot in the gardens at Alton Towers, which, unlike the funfair, is very tranquil and quiet. Cliff was there, with a full film crew and a speaker sistem playing his single, while he strolled along miming. An old couple wandered past, and the lady said 'Do you know, you look exactly like Cliff Richard!' 'I am Cliff Richard.' responded the Peter Pan of pop. 'Oh yes, very nice,' replied the old lady, proof if any were ever needed, that old people just don't listen!
Gos from Big Bro 4! Or Alex Ferguson, David Beckham and the rest of the 95/96 Manchester United squad staying at my local Swallow Hotel. Daniella Westbrook before her cocaine addiction took her nose away, Dennis Bond who wrote the munch bunch books, Jodie Kidd, Jamie from Eastenders, Kenneth Noye (the bloke who stabbed Steven Cameron on the A20 about 10 years ago), Natalie Umbruglia, Lucy Benjamin (Lisa in Eastenders) and Kristian Schmidd (Todd from neighbours). Take your pick! I reckon David Beckham wins it. Closely followed by Alex Ferguson!
in the late sixties i met jimmy hendrix in the winter garden loo?just before he was going on stage.i also met fleetwood mac in a bar in bournemouth, they use to travel around in an old bedford van, they also bought me a rum and cke.and a few years later i shook hands with tommy cooper in a bar in eastbourne.
Bill Bailey, Dave Spikey, Johnny Ball, David Dickinson, Joan Collins, Gwen Taylor, Steve Ryder, Sue Barker, Michael Winner, the Pet Shop Boys, loads of the casts of Corrie and Emmerdale, Julian Clary, Rhona Cameron, Mel and Sue...there must be others I've forgotten (I work in a theatre)...my fave, who was probably the least famous, is Mark Radcliffe, ex-radio 1, now radio 2. Just cos I'm a huge fan and he was really nice and friendly.
bumped into Thom Yorke once at the arts cinema in Jericho, Oxford (can't remember its name, is it the Phoenix?). Had had a few and he wasn't too impressed when I asked for his autograph (wouldn't normally have bothered him if totally sober). Said he was 'on time off' but eventually gave in to my rude persistence.
I've seen Bob Carolgees (without spit the dog!) in his candle shop, Matthew Kelly in our local Chinese restaurant (he was wearing a leather baseball cap!) and Paul Shane in a pub. I also saw several members of the Hollyoaks cast filming in Chester city centre (I don't know what they were called, but they were blond). Also, my daughter saw Kevin Webster from Coronation street at Quarry Bank Mill.
The Queen and Prince Phillip opened my local shopping centre but I was only about 2 when that happened so don't remember it! I saw Frank Bruno in Hamleys but he wouldn't reply to OI FRANK so we tried Alright Harry and he gave us a wave! I met Cannon and Ball in Bournemouth too! Oh and Jade Goody and Jeff in Lakeside! Cheryl Baker shopping in Marks & Spencer in Bluewater!
