I'm Yorkshire too....
I now have breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
However when I was working and there was a wonderful staff restaurant I used to have breakfast, dinner, and tea.
If you have dinner at night-time why did you have dinner money at school for your mid-day meal....it was never called luncheon money......
black country,
breakfast = snap ( sometimes called scran )
lunch = snap ( sometimes called scran )
tea = snap ( sometimes called scran )
supper = snap ( sometimes called scran ).
No one ever used the word lunch (it was what posh people did) when we were small & I still don't like the word but sometimes use it 'cos it saves explaining to non Midlanders.
School days were great, two big dinners & puddings a day!...and still none of us were overweight.
