When did racism become such a toxic subject? If you think about it logically without getting all emotional and jumping up and down, what we are talking about here basically is not liking someone because of their race. It sounds so innocuouss but the subject has been whipped up over the years that It seems to be now on a par with child molesters, murderers and rapists. Is it justified the way people get so hot under the collar about it?
No doubt I will be villified for even raising the subject but I just wondered what others thought.
People like people like themselves, the more different other people are the less they like them. 'Racism' is a form of xenophobia and that is explainable by evolution. Humans should be intelligent enough to realise what is going on here, but unfortunately many aren't intelligent or educaterd enough probably because Xenophobia increases inbreeding resulting in lower intelligence, resulting in more xenophobia. So am I saying that racists are inbred? ..possibly some NF members perhaps others.
Race isn't that bad a thing to 'not like' someone for, as long as 'not liking them' just means that you don't talk to them very much. Unfortunately 'not liking someone' gets a bit out of hand sometimes and people, sometimes millions of them, end up getting treated a bit worse than that, but in and of itself there are worse things to dislike people for I agree.
Having worked in the Middle East for 11 years I wouldn't trust an Arab, as most of them hate us.
I have visited India, Sri Lanka the Philippines, North Africa and Thailand and some people there I wouldn't trust.
As for some of the African Country's, some places you would be lucky to get out of being robbed, raped or alive because you were white.
The same as Moss Side and Brixton, if you are white you are in danger, so don't tell me that being a racist in my own Country is wrong!
It has always been a deplorable human trait from the times of slavery, through the times when it was referred to as "racial prejudice" up to and including today as is any other pre judged hatred of another person due to their appearance.
"If you think about it logically without getting all emotional and jumping up and down, what we are talking about here basically is not liking someone because of their race".
What *you* are talking about you mean ? So far if anyone is behaving in a way that resembles being "emotional" or "jumping up and down" it appears to be you through writing this post.
"It sounds so innocuouss but the subject has been whipped up over the years that It seems to be now on a par with child molesters, murderers and rapists".
I don't think racism can be compared with child molestation murder or rape as they are clearly and obviously (to me at least) antisocial actions whereas racism is simply a mindset. (It's "innocuous" btw)
"Is it justified the way people get so hot under the collar about it"?
If the end result is hostility and a division of our species through rejection based on racial differences then yes I do believe that it is acceptable to be extremely concerned about this.
"No doubt I will be villified for even raising the subject but I just wondered what others thought".
You asked some questions, I answered them and this is "Answerbank" you didn't break any rules or post anything that is obviously abusive or vilifiable (one "L") IMO.
There is a big difference between working in or visiting a country that is not the one you were born in and actually getting to fully know your hosts on a personal and cultural level IMO.
Over the centuries people have evolved into different groups which have similar backgrounds and cultures. Hence the development of nations and languages. People kept to their 'own kind'. With the onset of mass travel and globalisation the balance was tipped, leading to fear in the indiginous populations.
Like a houseowner who takes in a lodger, who in turn invites his family to stay until the owner feels it's not his house any more.
I don't think it's a racial problem, more a cultural one.
Shouting racist is just a cheap shot.
Just some of my ramblings,
