The fact that God was mentioned and written about long ago is not fact that he existed at all.
It is a fact that years ago it was mentioned and written about that the earth was flat.
Is it a fact that the earth is flat?
Im still waiting for these facts, very little of what is written in any holy book is "fact" it is just opinions and stories!

you say that you do not question evolution but surely that is going against the bible as that states that God created everything including Man in 7 days.. yet evolution proves that Man evolved over centuries so you are kind of contradicting God's word there!
Just because I personally can not answer the question about the big bang (not being an astrophysist) does not mean that is can not be proven by people smarter than me. I know that you can not ever PROVE the existance of God even if scientists tried for the next 1000 years - seeing as he is fictional and it would be a bit like trying to prove that Winnie the Pooh was a real bear.

@ ratter "Ive never seen an Atheist make such a claim! generally Atheists dont have any particular views on how the the world was formed or created."
there you go.
i wasnt talking directly to you, but i was answering your question. there is a difference. also as i have said before i am a muslim not a christian, i said that i agree with evolution but i do not agree we came from monkeys. what i mean by evolution is that we learnt to adapt to our enviroments, so basically adaptation, but we evolve to suit them better. we dont turn from apes to humans however.

@ Sith - To attempt to claim that the Koran holds any sort of science equal to or in advance of modern knowledge that we now have is absurd and risible. Much of the Koran claims to pre-eminent scientific or medical knowledge has been shown to be rehashed already available knowledge.
Example - much of the medical knowledge referred to in the Koran is clearly extrapolated from the Greek philospher, scientist and academic Galen, the pre-eminent physician of ancient times.
