// ToraToraTora well I have to pay for workshy scum, so we all pay for things we'd rather not. // Not a very nice way to talk about ''call me Dave & his mates''

Each person pays an equal share. Seems fair.

If they aren't happy with how much they pay, each person has an equal vote in the next local authority elections. Also seems fair.

The current system just seems to penalise the elderly, who have owned their houses for a long time.
I don't mind paying a share of general services MM but when I as a single person pay the same as the family next door who have 3 adults working then I would like the community tax in operation
^^Quite right.
You should apply to council for sole occupancy reduction !
It's not going to be proportionate though, is it? He's still going to be paying more than a fair share.
Question Author
sole occupancy receive 25% reduction .
Don't you automatically get a sole occupancy reduction ?

I mean, if your council tax bill is only addressed to one person ?
never mind, anne. you might have a socialist utopia up there soon.
No jj....you have to apply...
Question Author
Maggie being kicked out by her own party was decent enough reward. :)
I'm off to bed now...to dream of overflowing bins !! Night night xx
Still not proportionate.

JJ I get a 25% reduction as a single occupant but that doesn't equate to me paying 75% of next door's bill that have three earning adults. Bring back Maggie
Question Author
bring back Maggie.................she's dead.!
I don't think I've ever applied for my single occupancy discount.

:0(
Question Author
seriously jj. ? well you obviously have a very healthy bank balance.
If in the late 1600's some Scots had been as adept at business as some of todays Scots are at carping about Maggie, the Darien Scheme would have been a successful business enterprise and would not have brought about the Country's near bankruptcy which in turn was a significant contributor in the lead-up to the Acts of Union, which ultimately led to your having to deal with Maggie.
