@divebuddy
Even as an athiest, I have to admit that it is only the "game theory" aspect of human behaviour which would prevent a hypothetical, all-atheist world descending into violent anarchy. We each calculate that, if we let go of basic morals for a minute, we can act with impunity, if we want to but it would only be a matter of time before we ended up on the wrong end of theft, murder ourselves or, worse, having it happen to our loved ones.
The list of dictators were acting out of self-interest and simply bulldozing whoever was causing, or preaching, obstruction to their aims. They didn't kill with the stated aim of having atheism 'win'. They wanted their regime to win. At least that is the common theme I see.

The point that Ratter is making here is that many religious people have committed atrocities in the name of religion. Its still going on now, as the activities of ISIL have shown. That can't be denied.
But although atheists are just as capable of committing atrocities, they don't do it in the name of atheism. How could they ? ...atheism isn't an alternative religion....its the absence of religion !
Like others, I still challenge any religious person on here to look again at Ratters original post and support these activities, if they can, that are done in the name of religion.
