Not sure where to put this.

Trump has mooted this idea about financing this ruddy wall. He wants Mexico to pay....they say they won't.

So his next thoughts are that he may impose a 20% import duty on stuff coming from Mexico, like TVs for instance.

But if is to be successful, then its the American people that will be paying that extra 20%, not Mexico itself ! If people refuse to buy any more Mexican goods, then no moneys will be raised to pay for the wall.

Either way. Mexico won't be paying !

But the 20% is an import tax which goes to the government to pay for the wall, and to put the cars (or whatever) on a more equal standing with US produced cars and thereby creating jobs and wealth within the country.

Vortex....I have been told off, very gently, by an AB correspondent, whose input I very much value, that I was using the term bloody too much. So I am now trying to used ruddy instead.

So when you see ruddy in the future, I really mean something worse, and mostly far worse that bloody !

He has said the wall will be built paid by American Dollars and then Mexico will reimburse America. If he now introduces the import duty, America will actually pay twice.

The wall cannot progress until Washington has approved the expenditure.
But Trump says the US are not paying for it, so there is no expenditure.

As I have opined on another thread, this 'wall' will do nothing to stop illegal immigration from Mexico - people don't come over the border in the middle of the night, they come during the day on temporary visas, and then stay on.

The wall will do nothing except make President Trump look more foolish than ever - a tough task I know, but an actual physical monument to stupidity will certainly do the trick.
