Happy Windrush Day.
75 Answers
The government have announced that every year from now on, on the anniversaries of the arrival of the good ship Windrush, we shall all collectively celebrate our good fortune and remember these first immigrants from the West Indies, and the enormous contributions they and their descendants have made to our otherwise miserable lacklustre society.
Now we have diversity, black on black knife and gun crime, and of course Rap music, as well as an abundance of youth workers and community workers, and no end of black advisors telling us how racist we are, how we enjoy our ill gotten white privilege.
So I just want to wish everybody a very happy Windrush.
It's early days yet, so Km not too sure how we are supposed to celebrate, but if it is made into a national holiday, the I suppose few will complain.
Would the next ethnic grouping requiring a national celebration please submit your application please?

Okay, Theland, I get what you are saying ... or at least I think I do. So yes, it doesn't seem acceptable any more to celebrate what the likes of Churchill did for our Country because he was an upper class white man. But we MUST celebrate the Windrush Generation, Muslims, bi-sexual / gay / transgender ... So long as you are not white, working / middle class...

Not at all.
Stop and search is objectionable to a lot of black people of the Diane Abbot variety, then when the death toll goes up,they demand better policing. But profiling suggests stop and search is effective searching blacks as they are more likely to be carrying a knife.
But hey! That's racist isn't it?
No it's victimhood. Big difference.

I am not a racist. My daughter in law is ethnic Sudanese, and she and my son have given me two, soon to be three, beautiful grandchildren. She is a nurse and requires no special privileges for being black, nor do her parents or sister whom we love.
Yes we all rub along nicely thank you.
Race an origins never enter into our conversations. We are all colour blind, but we love good character.

Benjamin Zephaniah? I don't care what accolades he has, I judge for myself when I hear him speak on Question Time, The Big Questions, Newsnight etc, and he is just an average Joe with an opinion, and not as impressive as you suggest.
And he has enriched our British culture?
Wow I must have missed that one.

Rowan - I don't doubt he is clever, but my point is that Windrush and the subsequent generations, are as good as, not better than, our own indigenous talent.
Rowan - I know nothing of you or the partner you have so tragically lost, but please accept my sincere sympathy and condolences on your loss.
It is quite apparent to me how popular he was and how missed he will be.
I sincerely hope you find comfort in the love of you friends and that your grief is bearable in spite of the pain. God bless you for the love you have given him.
