A Compassionate Society?
154 Answers
Do you think we are a compassionate society, given the number and demand for food banks?
Kids go to bed hungry?
People on hard times have benefits stalled or stopped for superfluous reasons, sometimes resulting in eviction?
Army veterans, in spite of the British Legion and SAAFA, find themselves facing hardship and the governments promises to a military promise is just a sad memory?
We all had to bail out the bankers, and the CEO of Persimmons just got a £75,000,000 bonus.
The numerous questions should be obvious by now!

We have an absolutely lousy and poorly run infra-structure however which has been hijacked by those who wish to make society more divisive and unequal to further themselves and their own goals.
Interesting Theland that in listing charities like the British Legion & SAAFA, who do good work, you don't mention any of the numerous religions in the country. It would appear that the God of love and those religions here on earth who represent him are not quite so compassionate as they could, and definitely should, be.
My friend campaigns all year round for help for the homeless, for help for the elderly who might be lonely. She does loads....and she's got 7 kids!!
She gets the local paper involved, gets on the radio...anything she can.
My good deed for today, when I was over the shop earlier the man in front was 30p short so I gave him the 30p. Nothing big but it's the difference between him buying what he needs or having to put something back.
Small things can also lift someones spirits.

The music was loud at the charity ball,
Dickie bows and dresses that dusted the floor,
The drinks were flowing, the food was stacked high,
Dancing all night 'till morning was nigh.
Leaving at dawn, and ache in your feet,
Tripping over the homeless asleep on the street.
"Oh wotchit ," the homeless man cried,
And you had a choice, you had to decide.
"My good man," you said, "I've danced here all night,
To help you and make your future so bright,
So get out of my way, and let me pass,
Or I'll punch you and knock you flat on your ass!"
