Wy Do You Hate Vegans? Vegan Here... Ask Me Anything :)

I love this site... have been a member for far too long lol
I rarely post but am always here and as a vegan I am basically gobsmacked at times at peoples attitude towards my lifestyle choice and yes it is a choice. As is yours.
BUT [from the Vegan Society]
Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.
At 47 years of age [50 this year] I adopted the Vegan lifestyle because I became aware of the apathy and my own jaded sense of what is right and wrong. Right to kill a pig... but not a dog? blah blah blah
Have you ever watched any documentaries concerning veganism? Earthlings? Cowspiracy? What the health?
Do you know what cognitive dissonance is?
I'm not posting this to be confrontational, I am truley interested in what people think :)

Not veganism naomi, but vegeterianis m and I'm starting tomorrow when I go shopping for food. I totally agree with andres, there is far too much suffering in the animal world, all down to us. How awful for them to know they are going to die.

I must confess, I'm not the slightest bit bothered about how much suffering is inflicted on the animals people eat. Probably heartless of me but I just cannot bring myself to care very much about the rights or wellbeing of chickens or pigs. I don't lose any sleep over their suffering.
I do think there's a good argument for at least vegetarianism or even veganism from an environmentalist point if view, though. The meat industry is extremely heavy on emissions and it would be considerably better for the environment if people ate less meat.

"Why Do You Hate Vegans? Vegan Here... Ask Me Anything"
Your whole original post struck me as incredibly arrogant and pious.
I don't hate vegans - if anything I think they're a bit of an irrelevance, and have absolutely zero affect on my life.
If they choose to live the way they do, then good for them - there will never be hordes of omnivores hounding them for their way of life. Unfortunately however, a minority of vegans are not prepared to extend this courtesy to those who choose to eat meat. The arrogance, piety and entitlement of the vegans in the link below very neatly demonstrates why some vegans (I said some, not all, before people get swivel-eyed) are disliked and ridiculed.
Normal vegans just tend to be condescending and superior, which is OK if that makes them feel morally better than others (they're not better - but it isn't really doing any harm), but unfortunately you have the militant wing of veganism who think nothing of causing criminal damage https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /news/u k-engla nd-devo n-46111 505 the likes
of Selene Nelson who celebrated the death of 7 people following a Spanish bull-run, and the likes of Joey Carbstrong who thinks artificial insemination of cows is sexual abuse. How are normal people meant to deal with idiots like these?

PETA - an entirely absurd organisation, states in all seriousness that cows are raped!

As soon as people start talking about sexual abuse and murder, they lose all credibility they might otherwise have had.
It is entirely wrong of vegans to foist there views on those who do not share their opinions.

Honestly said Krom, neither do I. It is hard to, when there are members of my own species and race being murdered, starved and given a quality of life no lamb would ever dream of. I think some vegans (only some..) can forget humans are animals, and they should treat humans the way they wish humans would treat cows and pigs etc.. People get quite hysterical over this entire topic. So much so people end up in tears begging not to take the life of innocent animals. (Honest, i've seen it on instagram, someone crying to the masses pleading for the lifes of animals. I unfollowed her.

QED, divegirl. Pages and pages of vitriol, of hatred, just because you stood up and declared “Vegan.”
Mind you, no real answer to the question “Why?” I think David Small (small by name, but not by moral outlook) came closest, when he alluded to humanity’s guilt over the slaughter of their fellow sentient beings, to which I would add another Buddhist observation.
Humans suffer because of their strong, umbilical-like attachment to Things, one of which is meat eating - and any declaration of non-meat-eating threatens that attachment.
Throw off your chains of attachment, humans! You have a world to win.
