Whether you fall into the group classified as ‘at risk’, or are over 70 and advised to remain at home, or younger and fit but requested to abandon your social life, will you comply - and if not why not?
Me? I think we are duty bound.

Of course we will comply, as you rightly say Naomi we feel we are ALL duty bound to do so. Chillidoubt must feel like banging his head against the wall with some of the responses here. It’s not much to ask to put your social life on hold for a few months is it? Better that than catch this virus or continue the spread of it. I despair at times...

A guy my OH works closely with was invited to a wedding reception at the weekend. He's cancelled in case he contracts the virus and gives it to OH who would bring it back to me who is self-isolation due to being very high risk. I think that's quite touching and hope there are more people like that, rather than the selfish hoarders who seem to think they have no responsibility save making sure they can wipe their bums and stuff their faces with tinned spam.
Gromit, what will you do if one of your mates fails to turn up at the pub and you discover he has the virus?
Like others on here, i'm doing what I can. I still have to shop and take the mutt for a walk, etc. Being semi-retired for some time I have been cherry-picking which jobs I do. Now, because of the virus, I am only taking on jobs where there are no occupants of the house that needs decorating. I am avoiding as much social contact as is possible. Whether that is enough only time will tell.

The few buses that we have through our village are empty as they're almost exclusively used by older people. I've only been out of the village twice in the last 3 weeks - each time for essential food shopping - and absolutely no buying extra of anything. We're not seeing friends or family - thank goodness we have free "anytime" phone calls as there have been many of those.
