Anyone who doesn’t think there’s a class system has a big shock coming later in life and should examine how many of the top public schools generate top political, judicial and financial positions.
I did a quiz on here a long time ago, and came out as "established middle class" which means nothing. Is nobody able to explain it?
Retro @ 17.22 , With out any shadow of doubt you are in a class of your own . I will second that.
Pixie no I can't. From what I can gather only the Middle Classes seem to want to hold onto the class system as it gives them some sort of comfort that they have done better than those 'beneath' them.
I just don't know anyone who thinks this way. As I said... I have only seen it on AB, not in real life x
Zacs you will get a huge shock when someone shows you how many low income students rise through the ranks (some even getting bursaries) to snap up the top jobs in the new Industries ( Computer Science, Cyber security etc) There is absolutely no place for the old school tie in these environments, and no class structure either.
No I won’t because im already aware. I’m talking about positions of real power.
Pixie that's because there are a lot of older generation on AB who think of themselves as Middle Class and thinks this gives them some sort of self importance. Younger folks just don't 'get it' and that's a huge bonus.
Fair enough... it seems it is on it's way out then at least.
Zacs -that would be like ,,,,,,,,um shadow prime minister Sir Kier Starmer son of a Toolmaker and a nurse?
"Is nobody able to explain it?"

"No, Your Majesty " might enlighten you on the 'subject' pixie374.

APG, there are obviously exceptions. To claim they had 100% of the top positions would be crazy.

you (or your son) need to take a look at these which prove what I’m saying. Especially the last one......

Private schools also concentrate students from similar backgrounds together, helping them to form networks which can aid them in seeking out elite jobs in later life. Indeed, alumni of just nine leading public schools in Britain are 94 times more likely to reach elite positions than those from other schools,

I don't see different jobs or income as different "classes" 7op, if that's what you mean?
And zacs, that doesn't make much sense. I've been to state, private, grammar schools, been employed, self-employed etc. What does that have to do with class though?
Zacs - Well that's ok then for my son because he was privately educated lol!
In one of the top 9 schools?
Exactly Pixie! Middle class love to hate the upper class (as they will never be able to join their club however much money they have) and look down on the Working class as no better than they should be.
There was a really good series on the TV a few years ago exploring class and I think it was hosted by Grayson Perry.
I guess if nobody else understands it either... it makes no difference lol.
Zacs -Eton's only 15th on the list lol! and has spawned many a PM

and it depends top for what - his school would be up there for both Rugby and Cricket players lol!
By the way, the top 8 Ivy League US universities also create a class system in the US.
