Is paedophilia becoming acceptable on here?
103 Answers
Im posting this in response to some of the answers ive received about the arrests and convictions of the people behind the pedo ring in england.I said 700 others are guilty but im told they may be innocent.Or worse that its just market forces!!!!! Ive condoned torture of paedophiles in another post to get the information needed and any other info they might have too. Im sure in the case of ian huntly that a bit of electrocution wouldve helped him confess alot earlier. So hed have suffered but would that hurt as much as those two wee girls parents hurt whilst waiting to find out about them? Im sorry but the things those guys did and the videos they swapped were evil and i think anyone taking part in swapping them or even in condoning or at worst trying to excuse their behaviour is out of order.
I cant belieev that folk can even argue the point .
Im disgusted and disappointed.

Why does he keep arguing and what does his last post mean?
It seems to me that the quote I used regarding torture is timeless, dateless and relevant to any humanitarian, yesterday, today and tomorrow. If you are befuddled by that notion, then that says more about your lack of discernment than mine or Umbertos.
The antithesis of your argument is that you are potentially advocating something which has already been bestowed upon the poor victims of such crimes, as one could consider that these children have in fact been tortured by the perpetrators. Who knows, perhaps the torturers were tortured once too. That is where the relevance lies in my initial post.
Quite what Eco has to do with paedophilia I am at a loss, and yes we all know about Ratzinger, so if you must berate someone, then why not pop over to the Vatican and induce those that be, to bring his past to modern retribution, rather than attempting to lecture moi.

i dont think that quotes from a 20th cetury philosopher are really relevant oct.
not in the 21st century.
i do feel that some people though dop tend to quote to get their point across in the belief that if someone whos written a book said it it must be the correct thing to do or say.
and to prove my point heres a quotation"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation. "
it would appear you are trying to mimic eco by using his quotations to make your point.
perhaps i am wrong?
mind you they say that One's real life is often the life that one does not lead.

So a 20thc philosopher is not relevant in the 21st c. Does this dismissal of the human endeavour in the field of learning and understanding extend beyond the metaphysical to the physical as well? If so it would be interesting to know how you would envisage how human society should go on without any of the knowledge pre 2000.

ruby firstly an explanation of your last post.
in english if possible?
ruby im not sure how much relevance or influence a 20th century philosopher had in the 20th century never mind the 21st?
perhaps if you could explain what influence or sway eco carried or had over people or governments it would be both helpful and educational.

i do feel that a few people have forgotten what this question was about! but has made reading quite entertaining! thanks for that! on a serious note men or women that interfere with children should not deserve to breath the same air as their victims! can't understand it and never will but something more needs to be done to protect children in this country/world, apart from torture or killing people what else can be done to get rid of this problem?
