Now I may get everyone on my back here, but I am so angry, gypsies have moved in on our industrial estate, they are everywhere. I take all people as they come and basically they've come as scummy thieves. They hack into water supplies steal timber etc. There's being a proper gypsy and then there's taking the p!ss. what are other people views on them? Some I like and have time for up town as they are based at a gypsy site but these I do not have time for.

redcx - you're right about the weddings - they make it a real extended family & friends do!

Also, we have a 'very nice' well looked after cemetery approx 1/2 mile from us & when there's a funeral for one of them, the police have to be called to direct the traffic - just for them - as it's complete gridlock in the town!

The same cemetery is shortly having height restriction barriers fitted over the gates, as they have been parking their big white vans in there & believe it or not, having barbeques in there too!

These people have no morals!

There are good and bad in all walks of life. I know lots of gypsies, cornish, irish and romany and they are mostly good people.

People are scared of what they dont understand. There needs t be proper allocated sites for them, more of them. The travelling community is a part of our history, why should they give it up? Chavvy ***** on some choice estates get my goat far more than gypsies.
Most of these people are Irish Diddy Coys, as they like to call themselves Travellers, but they buy up the land, build permanent homes, and still call themselves Travellers, when in fact they are not,

Where I live, about a mile and a half away, is the biggest camp in Europe, and the courts have ruled for them, they own the land, but its Green belt, so officially can't build, but they have, you wouldn't believe what goes on, (well, after your recent experience, you probably would)

They have nothing at all to do with real Gypsies, but the courts have logged them together, so you have to watch what you say, because they'll claim racism.
and in an area near us when they eventually left, along with all their filth and rubbish they also left bin bags with their dead dogs...................
I am talking about Pikies not genuine Romany Gypsies.

I had my first real experience of 'gypsies' a few years ago. Cycling home on my usual route there were a few transit vans parked on either side of the footpath. Being stupid I cycled through the middle. I was set upon by dogs. These weren't annoying yapper-type dogs, these were dogs that really had it in for me. I had to pedal like hell. When they eventually left, about 20 piles of stinking rubbish had appeared. Nothing to do with them of course, and it was a coincidence that the local people had decided to excrete on the common.

Scum, wretched scum, but they are untouchable, like drivers using mobile phones and speeding motorcyclists.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a solution ? I'll bet you don't because until we start shooting them they are here to stay and will run untrammelled over us all.

Human sh!t on your bike tyres is a real eye-opener.

Hiya 4get.
In the work I do I am meant to be non-prejudiced and open-minded and "tolerant", so I am.
But my experiences of the types of "gypsies" you talk about (pikeys, not real Romany travellers) is exactly s most people have outlined. Rather than living a traditional lifestyle, off the land, they steal, leave chaos and destruction in their wake and just continue in a cycle of havoc.
It's unfair to say the least that they get away with this-they are a law unto themselves. And that's the problem.
My dog and I were once atrtacked by little ratty Pikey dogs, and I had to go for a tet renewal jab. They were filthy, I shouted and no-one came, despite the fact they were watching, and the Police did F-ALL. My dog "fought them off" (and believe me he is a flight not fight dog!) but it was a horrible situation to be in.

So to make sweeping generalisations, I have no time for these phoney pikeys masquerading as travellers.

Lol....you lot make me laugh. Not genuine romany travellers, like there isn't a bad one of them. Is it just to ease your prejudices? Could you tell the difference?

If you met a man I know, obviously gypsy, obviously trouble, been inside for battering a guy to death with a baseball bat outside a pub, still on the rob, has the charm (if you can understand what he is saying) you would all think he was a "pikey" when in fact he is a pure blood Romany. Just like another young lad I know his family are rough as anything and you would assume, Pikey, Irish etc.... take people as you find them not as you assume they are. Not all Romany gypsies are saintly and clean and making a good living just as not all "pikies!" are looking to rob you.
leelapops, snap, just what happened to me.

Political correctness oozes from all pores in this blighted country. If you post about pikies, you have to of course qualify it with some creeping comment about genuine romanies. Genuine Romanies ? I've never seen one, I've only ever seen the hostile rubbish-dropping sh!it-anywhere bogus copies.
and all of you probably live very near a sex offender I would worry more about them than than someone who might rob my bike.
they aint all bad, one I knew was selling knock off brand new caravans dirt cheap :)
Goodsoulette, maybe you will be lucky enough to have them living near you very soon, hopefully a very large encampment. My own council took a racist decision and built large earth bunds too keep them off common land because their presence encourages local people to dump rubbish and sh!t on the common.
Why do you think I know lots Whiffey? I have lived in the sticks and had a site 100 yards from my house. Where I live now its only half a mile to a site. In Taunton and Wellington you cant throw a stick without hitting a gypsy, of whatever ilk they may be.

Goodsoulette no not all Romany gypsies are good as not all housed people are good. Im just saying these lot are thieving scum thats not prejudice its a fact. :-) As I said I know a few of the gypsies from the site and although they have some dodgy dealing and can get a person kneecapped for you for 50.00 or steal your motor and burn it out if you dont need it any more aherm they are nice people. But these ones have turned up on land thats not theres and are already stealing. and as for sex offenders who says we dont worry. But this is whats happening in my world at the moment. But very good views everybody.
goosoulette, both 4get and I have experienced the decent ones (of which there are few) amongst the gypsies.

One caravan moved onto the site our factories are on once and he didnt steal a thing. His wife asked if she could have a peice of wood, it was freezing out and she had no heating for her and family.

The family stayed for a few months. One day my dads ride-on lawnmower was stolen. The gypsy said he knew who it was that had taken it as they lived on the permanent site near my parents house. He said he'd get it back.

a few hours later he returned, his knuckles scuffed and bruised. He'd found the culprit and tried to get the mower back but it had already been shipped up to birmingham. As far as we know he put the thief off stealing for a bit.

He also warned us of a large convoy travelling up to park on our land. We blocked the entrance to the site with a lorry and trailer. 20+ caravans blocked the main road as they got out to smash up the lorry and trailer. The police just parked up and watched. They did evenutually give up that time but caused no end of damage.

Last night, when we came to check on the factorys the gypsies were loading flat screen TVs into various transit vans, i wonder where they came from.

in our town we have a lot of Portuguese and polish, but I dont mind them at all, they earn a living to buy things.
stylinsam - you say some of the language used could be offensive - are you aware that you called them 'paddys'

are you aware what a 'paddy' is?

paddy refers simply to an irish person - a traveller can be irish, but not all irish are travellers - you have basically called all irish people thieving travelling scum.

you might want to address your own language before questioning others
There was a " Pikey " funeral here a few weeks ago , there were cars , vans , trucks etc, hundreds of "mourners " !! How can they go in to a church and be so hypocritical and sob , when they never go in to church in there life time , I suppose they have to try to get the deceased in to Heaven as they have have been nasty all there lives . Go to a cemetery and look in "Pikey " plot the graves cost mega bucks , paid by other peoples misery .
Hope St . Peter turns them all the scumbags away . An old lady who lives nearby was ripped off a few weeks ago , 150 she could not afford , so yes I do not like them one little bit .
oh they do go to church. We get a mass onslaught of them once a year when they travel to walsingham. I suppose that to some their faith means that they can confess their sins and be forgiven in the eyes of god. Its a free rein of sorts to go out and do what they please for the rest of the year.
