Now I may get everyone on my back here, but I am so angry, gypsies have moved in on our industrial estate, they are everywhere. I take all people as they come and basically they've come as scummy thieves. They hack into water supplies steal timber etc. There's being a proper gypsy and then there's taking the p!ss. what are other people views on them? Some I like and have time for up town as they are based at a gypsy site but these I do not have time for.

The parents are not bothered about kids in school as they have them going through small windows to let the others in . They did a local village hall and plugged in to the electric supply . The hall was paid by fund raising , when they went all the local farmers blocked the fields off , as they had to try to get the land back to use . A waste of space and the real Romany 's detest them .

they have complete disregard for the law including no tv licences and no car tax mostly (4x4s) needless to say no insurance,also i work in a hospital and if one of their ilk come in injured, they even take over (24/7) the reception areas till whoever is in is discharged,and the hospital management do nothing as it causes aggressive behaviour, nor do the police when informed do anything

We had the travelling band of Pikeys stop off in our village last year. They smashed the lock off of the gate to the park and parked their vans and caravans near the mill pond and created havoc. They were driving all over the grass, ripping it up as they did hand brake turns. Theft from the local village rose rapidly whilst they were camped out on our park. The annoying part is that if any local person drove their car onto the grass they would be prosecuted . These people think they are a law unto themselves.No one was prosecuted at all. Most of the vehicles were 4 wheel drives, and all were under 2 years old. One van even had a sign on it advertising new Soffit and Facias, with an 0800 phone number, so you never know who is doing a job for you.When they were finally moved on there was rubbish, sanitary towels and human sh!te all along the hedgerows.

Why is this group of people (pikeys) allowed to get away with everything? They contribute nothing towards this country either financially or socially and yet seem happy to take, take, take (or thieve in most cases). The police and council officials are afraid of them. They even employ special liaison teachers in schools for travellers children, yet are hard pressed to find money to employ extra staff for other children with special needs.

Why do they feel that we should respect their right to live differently. By all means let them live their lives as they want, but deny them any of the advantages that others pay for (schools, hospitals, etc.,etc.etc.)

One of the local Pikey community where I live have just popped his clogs , so the town will be over run with the mourners . A friend works at the local hospital and they were there in droves smoking in the grounds which is banned ,no one said anything to them as all you get is abuse . The local pubs will no longer let them have a wake as they cause mayhem . I said before that they are the scum of the earth , they take all and give nothing . The government made everything PC,and Human Rights , what about my rights as a tax payer and home owner ?

Why does there seem to be an acceptance of "Real Gypsies", as opposed to the scum you're talking about? Those Pikeys (we call them knackers here in Ireland) are the scum of the earth and would steal the sight from your eye, but are "real" gypsies any better? The Romanian Gypsies are the same as the Pikeys here and despised by their fellow country men . A family of 20 Roma are in the UK , none of them work , have a house , benefits , health care , did you not see it in the newspaper ? I know people who are on the list for housing and are by passed . Look after your own before the others . An English mans home was his castle , now try and get one !!

Quite a lot of the old style gypsies have permanent dwellings in our area now, work, join in with the community and are respected citizens. They still keep up their old customs but that all adds to the diversity of the area.

Personally, I think these pikeys are a mix of all types of people, whether it by gypsies, new age travellers or anybody that wants to opt out, have a free ride through life and generally be a nuisance. I don't think it's got much to do with wanting to 'preserve' their historic lifestyle!!!
