as i dont have any money its hard to say. on a base level having more money certainly gives you more options but whether these options equates to freedom i'm not sure. In some ways you may be a hell of a lot free-er when you're poor.

My example is this. Disabled youngster or adult. Rubbish wheelchair. Need one that can climb upstairs and go back down again. Can go on pebbley beaches and generally terrain other than a pavement.

Price? �20,000.00.

I really want the answer to be no but unfortunately I think it does, even aforementioned imaginary friend has a lot more freedoms in Durham than his poorer cell mates

China, maybe you should look at the question philosophically, and ask 'what is freedom?'. I know some very wealthy people whose love of money creates a prison for them. They live a meagre, narrow, existence because they're so reluctant to spend any of it.

Personally, I think money, if enjoyed, does create freedom in the material world, but the best freedom that anyone can attain has to be peace of mind - and no amount of money can buy that.

Phew, I'm off for a cup of tea after that!

You can buy justice in some areas of the world.

Money helps an awful lot if you just want to do what you want to do.

Peace of mind is an individual thing and I'm sure I could maintain a pretty peaceful mind if I didn't have to do what I'm obliged to do rather than what I want to do.

I want to run round fields and jump in lakes naked if I so choose without having to book an A/L day to do it!

I want to spend the rest of my life doing degrees and travelling rather than a 9am - 5pm.

I want to come and go as I please when I please.

I want to take some time out and go and do something useful in this world. I want to be able to actually make a difference when I see some of the people suffering on the News (usually takes money)

And all that ^^^ will probably change tomorrow but I want to be able to change my mind tomorrow and still be able to do it.

In short I want the moon on a stick. (A nice stick).

It's not a problem.

It's just that I think freedom is what we are all fundamentaly trying to strive for in one way or another.

So if it all boils down to money equalling freedom I find that really bleak.

I don't work, as you are well aware and although I try to be careful, with my very meagre state handouts, I fear, I will never be able to answer this.
