The Next US President
26 Answers
I'd be interested to hear your views, especially from American members, as to the inside take on this. It appears that the Democratic candidate will now definitely be Barak Obama. On the other hand I am reading that Obama being Black is never going to work nationally when push comes to shove and America elects its next president. So, the Democrats have shown how liberated they are. As an Englishman I like Obama, he is a committed Christian, but is this a step too far for America to accept. Will they vote in a Black president, even if he kicks Muslim ass ?

Oh, really Waldo? For some reason that's always your first line of defense, not only with me (understandably) but others with whom you disagree. It didn't take long to note that the link you provided is a Blog by... Bill Ayres. So objective that you must have missed the third entry down indicating the inability to locate Mr. Ayres supposed letter on an archive search of the actual New York Times to whom he says he mailed the letter.
In actuality, this pretty well sums up his actions, which apparenty you approve: " For the few who may not know, what he did, and apparently didn't feel he did enough of, was bomb places. And, in fact, the organization he was with, the Weather Underground, was responsible for killing 2 police officers and a Brinks guard, when, acting as common criminals, they robbed an armored car.
Thankfully, in 1969, 3 of the Weather Underground blew themselves up building a bomb they planned to plant at Ft. Dix, NJ, a US Army base. The bomb was packed with nails to inflict maximum casualties upon detonation. One of the three killed was Bill Ayers' girlfriend at the time.
Between October of 1969 and Sept. 1975 (when the participation of the US in the war in Vietnam was well over), the organization Bill Ayers was an integral part of was responsible for 24 bombings to include bombings at Harvard and MIT. " (Source: Q and O Blog)
Additionally, from an article written by Donna Run "...Ayers] was entirely unrepentant for having been a terrorist himself. I would do it again, he told the Times when he was asked about having set a bomb in the Pentagon...."
You know, I bet you'd really be a nice guy to meet in person and have a cup of coffee with... I'm buying!

Dirk?... Dirk?... Why, thank you Waldo... and here's me thinking there was some sort of animosity! While I didn't know you were aware of my Scottish ancestry,, it's greatly appreciated being compared to the historical Scottish thin bladed dagger worn with honor. That's actually quite nice of you! In fact, I'd spring for a Starbuck's Park Place roast... middle dark bean with a hint of chocolate overtone, subtle woodsy flavor and a bright finish with no aftertaste...or, if you'd prefer, I'd even, for that unexpected comp[liment, enjoy buying you a caramel latte' with double shot of espresso... Thanks again!
