Elderman, oops! You've put the wrong hat on.

Ah, so New Atheist is a name coined by an American magazine. That figures. No surprise none of us have ever heard of it.

Sith, you really do talk the most utter drivel at times.

Odd that we have two self-proclaimed religionists here - and they are the only ones who appear to be happy to see the continuance of suicide bombings, religious wars and people being fleeced by religion. That just about says it all!
Come and join the new TRUE religion over on

Truthabounds, a meaningful deity, new practices, new hymns and creeds being put together as we speak. We accept all degenerates and sinners of any creed, without the perverts of the Churches who have absused their positions of trust, a true indication of the moral torpitude of the current Religions.

Join us in worshipful praise and Hallelulah to our Divine Deity, for he knows who he is.

Say all you like your day will come. A pleasant “Good day” is perhaps the most common of greetings. But when you give or get such greeting, how much does the thought behind it mean to you? For most, it is of light importance. After all, what is one day when compared with a lifetime.
Starting Every Word With A Capital Letter Really Does Make It Difficult To Understand Your Question. Are The 'New Atheists' Some Kind Of Religious Cult?

Naomi, you beat me to it re. Sith & drivel. Sith could you cut down on the drivel and think before you write, it will save you a lot of time trying to defend an undefendable standpoint.

again naomi, when did i say i love terrorism. what i said is that whenever one type of evil finishes another will just come to take its place. its not and never going to be a totally peaceful world is it? no, theres always going to be a new type of violence wherever that be murder, violence or even terrorism...as long as humans live on this earth there will always be some who will be violent...its fact.
the only thing that we as humans can do is counter it, by making sure there is more good than bad. Even i would like to see a peaceful world with no violence, believe me. but i highly doubt all violence will go.
Sith, and when did I claim you said you love terrorism? I didn't. You did, however, imply that a vision of the world without suicide bombers, religious wars, and televangelists fleecing their flocks doesn't appeal to you, but I guess that's because, like most of the faithful, you feel duty-bound to defend religion regardless of its actions. You justify your opinion by claiming that without all those things violence would still exist, and of course that's true. However, that does not negate the misery that religion continues to inflict upon this world, and frankly, as an excuse, it's pathetic.
Sith123, I wonder how many people have been maimed, tortured, burned, cricified, had bits of them cut off or murdered in the name of Atheism. Perhaps you could find out for me?
DT Crossword fan...a true believer...

But seriously...I suspect man will find other causes to fight for be it tribalism, race, or whatever... especially as the world becomes more crowded... it almost seems like a need to fight for something....to believe in a cause as it were...but at least it will be a fight for something real rather than an idea...a delusion or a lie
Many in this world, particularly scientists, Atheism, and political leaders, accept the view that man has been on earth millions of years. They believe that he has arrived at his present state of development by the process of evolution, and that this process will continue into the indefinite future. Because of this they feel that man has unlimited opportunities and time to make a success of his plans. But the “true Christian” is not fooled by this Satanic doctrine. God’s chief adversary would like all persons to believe that there is no set time for anything, even God’s purposes. But the “true Christian”, having full confidence in God and his Word and It is call faith, knows that man does not have an indefinite future in this world. He realizes where we stand in the stream of time, and that God’s judgments against this world are soon to be executed.

That is why Ecclesiastes 12:1 counsels: “Remember, now, your grand Creator in the days of your young manhood, before the calamitous days proceed to come, or the years have arrived when you will say: ‘I have no delight in them.

Who are New Atheists?
A group of authors and speakers, who came to prominence after the year 2000, the top four in particular are sometimes referred to as "the four horsemen".
These being:
Richard Dawkins - as Death
Christopher Hitchens - as Famine
Sam Harris - as Pestilence
Daniel Dennett - as War
There are of course, others not so prominent such as
P Myers, Victor Stenger & Jerry Coyne.
In fact if you “Google” New Atheists you will find quite a few articles.
While the new atheists reproach religion, they revere science,
Sometimes atheism refers simply to the practical rejection or ignoring of God. The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary gives this definition of “atheist”: “A person who denies God morally; a godless person.”
Rejection of God’s authority can be traced back to the first human pair. Eve acknowledged God’s existence; yet, she wanted “to be like God, knowing good and bad.” The implication was that she could ‘be her own boss’ and create her own moral code. Adam later joined Eve in this denial of God’s authority.—Genesis 3:5, 6. But the most shocking denial of God’s authority comes from Christendom’s clergy, who have substituted man-made traditions for pure Bible truths. (Compare Matthew 15:9.) Additionally, they have backed the bloodiest wars of the 20th century, thus rejecting the Biblical command to display genuine love.—John 13:35.
I would point out that Christendom is not the same as Christianity. Christianity does not follow any human as leader, not the Pope, the Priests, Rabbi or any other religious leader.
If you have an understanding of the Bible (not just having read it) you will see the parallels between false religion and true religion.
The vast majority of people today cannot distinguish the two and that is why God is blamed for the situation on the earth. But there are two Gods. Satan is a God. He is referred to as the God of this System or The Ruler of the World. He is the one to blame for all the bloodshed, poverty, feminine etc on this earth.
Truthabounds - you are the kind of Christian that gives me problems with Chritianity.

It's this unspoken but constantly hinted concept that you know something that I don't, and you have something I need, but I'm not worthy or bright enough to have it like you. Your phrase "If you have an understanding of the Bible (not just having read it) you will see the parallels between false religion and true religion." is a prime example of this smug superiority that so many Christians have about them.

It doesn't alter my view, rather it re-enforces it - that you live a life with an inbuilt sense of superiority based on your belief, and the rest of us just have to rub along and watch you ascend into heaven, while we get posted elsewhere.

Maybe, i don't know, but crucially, neither do you. The difference between us is, i don't adopt the moral high ground with my stance.

If you want to learn a new language or skill, it is not something that is acquired in a matter of hours or weeks even. To become fully conversant and fluent in the language or skill can take many years. But at the end of the learning curve you have achieved your aim and you are proficient in your chosen skill/language/profession..
The reason for this illustration is that in a similar way, God has allowed man time to prove that he is not capable of ruling himself. Every kind of government has been tried, from dictatorship to monarchy, democratic to communism. Nothing has brought an end to wars, famines, poverty, crime etc.
Time is now running out and God is going to step in with his Rulership.
Well, could you ask him to hurry-up and therefore remove the need for tiresome people like you and the 'other' members of this recent, bountiful crop of Religious posters, to clog up this section with your tedious proclamations?

Remember: Your God wants Christian Fruits.........NOT religious nuts!!!

You have totally misunderstood. Many people have read the Bible and because it is a complex book, not all understand. I know because I was that way once. It is not a matter of superiority. I would not for one instance, consider myself superior to another. We were all created equal with equal opportunities.
As for my ascending into Heaven. There is no way I will be going to Heaven. The Bible speaks of eternal life on a Paradise earth with no wars, crime, violence, poverty, famine, disease etc. This is something I want for all mankind. Not just a chosen few.
For example, if the house down the road from you was on fire and that the fire was spreading from house to house and I knew you and your family were asleep unaware of what was happening – should I walk past and say, well he doesn’t believe so why should I tell him. No, I would endeavour to wake you all up and tell you the danger.
This is the difference between having a love of mankind and having a smug “I know something you don’t” attitude.
JTH "other' members of this recent, bountiful crop" :-D spot on.

Dear Mr Troll wouldn't any sensible, rational person want less violence, less wars, less crime? surely the only people it wouldn't appeal to are sociopaths
