@AP I would be more than happy to agree to disagree with statements made in this forum, if the authors made it clear that their posts were made as statements of opinion or belief, rather than being presented as statements of scientific fact.

I think assertions that dowsing works are dangerous and I will challenge them. It is because this kind of half -assed folk wisdom gets passed on and accepted as some sort of scientific truth that conmen are able to sell equipment to detect explosives, using a modern day variant of the supporting "theory" - Its all quantum now, of course.

Ley lines are a harmless enough belief I suppose, but the claims made for them and what they represent are pretty wild and unscientific, and that just irritates me :)
Ah ok, so we're down to the nitty gritty here ie. you have "issues".
Well all I can say is - that's your problem.
I never presented my statements of opinion as if they were fact and if it came across that way, feel free to insert a few "IMO"s or "afaik"s into the offending posts wherever it makes you feel comfortable to agree to disagree.
Are you calm now ?

It's nonsense. The ley lines through ancient monuments has been thoroughly debunked by a scientist that proved the position of Woolworth stores made perfect lines and triangles. It's just *coincidence*

And here's the diagram of the lines:

I agree with Ap on this one. The ancients didn't have steel rules and satnavs - they built these edifices in places significant to them, and it is more than coincidence that the straight lines can be drawn though many and lead on to others.
I don't know if there is anything more to these lines, but I can't see why there should be. When people say they are 'mysterious' and 'profound', what do they mean? What do they expect them to 'do'? I would suggest that since the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, this idea probably emanates from what were originally travel routes.

Gran, I don't think the Nazca lines are in a similar category at all.
