I believe faith may be like that ; illogical, impossible , no provable evidence . Just a feeling. a thought, wishful thinking or idea....
I think beckersjay answer shows an open mind but then I talk to my tomato plants.

//John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave is one and only son, that
WHOEVER believes in him shall NOT perish but have eternal life.//
I am quite sure that murderers who want to cleans the world of infidels in the name of their God believe that they believe in their creator, so they go to heaven while the good-hearted charity worker in the Op shop goes to hell.
In the words of Mr.Spock.... that is illogical.

Not only illogical - but wicked. How any right thinking human being can believe it’s acceptable for a good man to go to hell simply for utilising his innate rationality – and moreover accept that an innocent man was brutally executed, by design, by a supposedly compassionate God on their behalf - is beyond me. And these people pride themselves on being good Christians? Actually, it absolutely sickens me – but then. I’m just one of those damned ungodly atheists who happens to care about her fellow man!

The Goodly Godless will probably take no comfort from this.
Abou Ben Adhem
Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said
"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still, and said "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
