The Bible states, “and his ears are toward their cry for help.” (Ps. 34:15) How important it is, then.............Prov. 3:5.

I don't want to be God's servant. I am servant to no man - just two cats.

Anyway with my dodgy mental health reaching out to seek help from my imaginary mythical being (god) would probably get me locked up (again).

:-)
wolf, that didn't stop Saint Gertrude of Nivelles....

Octavius

Saint of cats AND mental illness. I shall toddle back to wiki and read the rest.

Families you who have not experienced the misery, deprivation, and desperation of life in the slums, squatter areas, and shantytowns (or whatever one chooses to call them) would you find it difficult to imagine such conditions. Yet, for hundreds of millions of people, they are the realities of everyday existence why?
Yes I can imagine them. I have even been to a couple.

wolf, you can have St Thomas of Cadbury or St William of Yorkie.

I am eagerly anticipating meeting these saints Octavius - hopefully bearing gifts.

goodlife - I know a lady who is now over 70. She goes out to India for six months of each year to work in a Leper Colony. She goes out because she thinks that is what god wants her to do.

She does not preach the gospel or harp on about us sinners. I don't think that she could quote one bible passage. To her religion is about doing something to help others.

You quote gospel and can cut & paste. Do you lead a good life goodlife?

because the world is not a perfect place.

You are the one who thinks there is a God with the answers - not me - so you figure it out.
Myself, my husband, my son, my best friend my doctor, and if necessary I suppose the law, social workers, The Samaritans.................. all tangible and able to help......................
I can't see the problem that you atheists constantly "churn out"

If a religion gives you solace in time of stress and anguish....then what is wrong with that?
Each to his own. A lot of people are helped by their faith. Agree with Sqad. Sometimes I wish I had a faith. Sadly I have not.
I have no problem with anyone turning to religion in their time of need if that is what comforts them, it bothers me though when they insist on coming to my house like they Jehovah's witnesses did this morning and won't go away when I try to be polite and ask them nicely to leave.
excuse me goodlife................. hi lottie. :o

I don't think anyone was bemoaning that, some people look to friends and family, others look to vodka and chocolate, others look to the Bible. If we all looked in the same direction, who knows what would happen behind our back.... (wolf would eat all the chocolate probably).
