A convenient miracle has been discovered which will allow pope paul to become a saint. Silly beyond words.

Apologies for the link to the daily mail, the same story is in most newspapers so it must be true.

ludwig, all that scoffing will make you fat.

"Why is it that miracles only seem to happen within the Abrahamic religions and especially to RCs ?"

Apart from Gautama Buddha and the Nyaunglaybin miracles of course.... I would assume there are various others. You just pay more attendtion to the RCs which is a good thing I suppose - it means the message is spreading...

^ along with the less savoury news about the RC church.
sandyRoe - "We're presented with evidence, evidence strong enough to satisfy the elders of the church apparently, and yet the mockers disregard it and scoff. :-("

consider that these 'elders' are the same people who shuffle paedophile priests around as though they are playing some sick game of draughts.

I wouldn't give credence to any 'church elders' - they are not normal people in any sense of the word.
Yes Andy. They are ....special.

The members of the Curia may well be unworldly but they are wise in the ways of the church and could sniff out a fake miracle at 100 yards. The very fact that they've accepted this one is surely a sign that it is a miraculous event.

a fake miracle......? that is what is miraculous about miracles, they always appear when needed, that is why they are miracles. You want a miracle, you get one, that is what you get for being a devoted believer. Atheists don't get miracles, why is that?

I'm sure that if pope paul could speak he would say 'don't waste all that money making me a saint, use it to save the sight of several thousand children or help prevent the spread of aids.' Who got his gold Rolex watch by the way?
Consider the miracle at The Wedding Feast at Cana. The water was changed into wine after all the drink had been supped. "...they always appear when needed...". Quite so. Timing is everything.
Quite Sandy, and if only there were a photographer present at the Wedding Feast in Cana - like at modern day weddings - then the proof would be there for all to see.

Pope John Paul II was certainly photographed as he went about his business but didn't seem to perform any miracles on camera - shame really as if he did I don't think anyone would suggest that the he couldn't actually do miracles like some of the posters on here.

It is unfortunate that the miracle we know about was after he was dead and cured a lady who people are not really sure was all that ill in the first place.

But anyway, hopefully this new miracle will be a bit more conclusive and make everyone happy.
Miracles do happen!

So far, I've woken up every time after I fell asleep... thousands of times.
Really feel cheated that I do not have a saint for my birthday, or even my name.
It’s the same old story of conveniently attributing the unknown to the unknown. Someone claims that a prayer to a dead man was instrumental in improving her medical condition and the powers that be take advantage of the ‘evidence’ to give one of the ‘old boys’ a leg up. They’re still working on the next bit of ‘evidence’, but no doubt they’ll get there.
Daisy, you could always adopt one.
Daisy, it's hard to believe that there isn't a Saint for your birthday. Look here

Hundreds opf years ago, the members of the same church would have sworn on a stack of bibles that the earth was flat.

Just because a collection of venerated individuals with a vested interest in something decide that a supposed instance is a fact does not make it so - it never has and it never will.
i should have looked myself before posting that link. Seems there are vacant days. Sorry
Its very easy to abide by the rules and aplpy them if you have created them. Fact. If you don't like the rules and don't abide, surely it has no bearing on your everyday Andy? Is it time for another 'silly' from jomil perhaps?
Octavius - it has no bearing on my 'everyday' as you put it Octavius - neither do the starving in Africa, but I have an opinion about the sheer futility of that as well.
