Why My Faith?
28 Answers
I consider my faith in the Bible and in Jesus Christ to be legitimate and based on evidence.
This is something I share with millions of other people.
However, on this site, there seems to be a total disregard for the sheer numbers of people, including scientists and scholars from all walks of life, who have found a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The twin issues of First Cause, and Abiogenesis, demand answers, not forthcoming from atheists, who seem to begrudge a Christian explanation for our existence.
Given such a long list of believers from all walks of life, I find myself in quite good company.
Does this mean that all such believers are not as enlightened as you?
Or is there any possibility that you don't know it all?
Have you really no hope for the future? Your future?

You seem to suggest folk should not disagree nor debate with you. I don't think that a reasonable hope. The trouble with any religion's beliefs is that it is inevitably conjecture. Well unless willing to believe in mediumship. So it is up for debate, and disagreement. Were it otherwise it would be in the realm of science; which can only deal with the physical realm. And as knowledge progresses may not even be able to test everything in that realm eventually.

The need to show cause in the Universe went out when Quantum Mechanics came in. QM showed us that that existence itself is random at the fundamental level of Space-Time with particles constantly appearing and disappearing at random.
Moreover, it is theism that has an insurmountable problem with First Cause, providing no explanation for the origin of the most complex thing in the Universe, their God.
The leading hypothesis for explaining abiogenesis is found in alkaline hydrothermal vents where a chemical reaction identical to the most fundamental energy reaction in all of life is found in the Serpentinization of Olivine.
Below is a link to just one article on this process, which was only discovered in 2000. It is only a matter of time before this process, or one very like it, becomes accepted as the source of life on this planet.

I am not sure why First Cause and Abiogenesis "demand answers" or even matter very much. I believe in god but am not a member of any church. I don't think it matters one jot how god made the universe...even IF god made the universe. The important thing for me is NOW not then, how I behave and what my belief does for me and to me now.
I don't think that everybody should believe as I do, that my way of believing is the only right way...its what works for me and benefits me.
I am honestly not sure what your motive for posting on here is?

birdie; //Consensus does not reveal truths// it is you who is introducing the word "truth", it isn't mentioned in the OP. It's a small word with big meanings.
Zacs and naomi; The OP states //I consider my faith in the Bible and in Jesus Christ to be legitimate and based on evidence//. Which clearly indicates that as far as he is concerned, he has found sufficient evidence for his beliefs.
Do you have a problem with that?
