I very much doubt you’ve spoken to many Muslim clerics … if indeed any. The chances are that if you ask a Muslim cleric that question he’ll deny that the verses ever existed. There is no argument.
Incidentally, Vulcan is right. The bible is not believed to be simply a collection of reports, history & stories – it is believed to have been inspired by God.
