How can anybody wanting to worship God or wanting to search for Him ever step into a Roman Catholic Church given their recent revelations about criminal and pervasive sexual abuse with both adults and children?

Where is their integrity?

I hope not because it contradicts itself every five minutes. If you try to take the old testament and the new testament as part of one book you honestly want your head looking at unless you believe that God has a multiple personality disorder.

Hi, Tinks.....I wondered about the use of cess pit but to be honest after all I have seen and experienced within the Catholic Church I thought....why not....it is a vile and rotten to the core organisation....
Atheist.... I can’t answer for Theland but if his post on AB is the worst any Catholic has to suffer they are very lucky indeed. If one belongs to an organisation that condones the actions of the Catholic Church by remaining within it then one deserves and should expect no respect.

The current Pope in my opinion does not condone what has happened & I dont appreciate all Catholics or Catholic Nuns & Priests being tarred with the same brush.

Sadly there are bad people everywhere however my Catholic Grandparents are NOT those people and when I think of them being tarred it deeply offends me. They are good people - very few people could lace their boots and they showed us & those around us nothing but love & kindness. Some are sadly dead but the ones still with us are
practicing Catholics and the best NICEST people anyone could ever be lucky enough to meet.

I have an aunt who is a Nun..... not the nicest person I have to admit. Her sister, my Gran however was... point being that you get horrible nasty sex offending priests/nuns aswell as bus drivers, policemen or women, butchers, bakers , candlestick makers.

Its not your religion its the fact that you are an all round *** person.

It would be no local cesspit sitting next to my Grandparents- anyone would be honoured to sit next to them and feel the love & sing a wee hymn.

Tinks, I'm Irish from a Catholic family.....I have wonderful family members who would do nothing but good for another human being.
I love them dearly and they love me....but I do think that every one of them should have left the Catholic Church on finding out just how evil and corrupt such a large part of it is. They know I feel this way and nothing at all will change my views on this.
For me you cannot stay within this organisation once you know just how cruel and evil some members have been and still are...x

Someone I know was abused by a priest as a child. When that someone reported it to their parents, it resulted in total disbelief by the parents and a good hiding for the child for being so disgusting about a man of the cloth. The priests name was Fr. T....
Am I allowed to say his name? He's dead now.

Anyone should be named, shamed & full force of the law who abuses another human being. People who do that are NOT good people.

I read alot of books about this topic, what children particularly were subjected to was HORRIFIC & shamefull. Different times where children were just not believed..... again even outwith religion , children who spoke out about family members etc were simply not believed. Very very sad. More than sad! Words cant describe x

You see, Tinks....for me it is as easy as that. Unfortunately my experiences of the cruelty of the Catholic Church comes from more than reading books.
I am not tarring everyone with the same brush. Not all Catholics are cruel and wicked abusers.....of course they're not. But to attend masses or to contribute to one of their churches in any way is wrong.....x

Am convent educated & attended hundreds of churches globally & never come across abuse. Their are some bad people in all walks of life.

I was brought up a Catholic. That's the religion where the priests and the nuns were denied entry to the Einzatzgruppen because they were too cruel.

Of course there are bad people in every walk of life, Tambo.......that's no reason to turn a blind eye to all the abuse committed by nuns and priests....to condone it by worshipping in a Catholic Church.
