Why?

There are millions of people the world over who will take a religious text, or something they have dreamed up and written down, or just voices in their head, and use it as justification for abhorrent behaviour.

I have said before, but it bears repeating, it enables such people to look in the mirror and tell their reflection, "I am doing the right thing because I am a good person following the right path …".

That feels so much better than the reality, which means looking in the mirror and telling their reflection, "I am a psychopath with no moral code whatsoever, I am utterly irredeemably horrible human being and the world would be a better place without me and people like me in it."

It's just human nature, we all like to think the best of ourselves - some go about it differently than others.

Fortunately here in the UK (for the moment anyway, but watch this space) having permission from Allah to commit what is almost certainly the second most heinous crime against a woman does not constitute a statutory defence against an allegation of rape. I'm not overly concerned about what constitutes acceptable behaviour in Muslim countries.

We live in the 21st century where LGBT communities are being accepted and thriving. You think something so barbaric as rape will be accepted in the UK because of a large Muslim community? No. Never. You zero in on 'the word of Allah' because that is a particular, shall we say, 'interest' of yours, but as my post advises, absolutely any religious tract will do, and if not, then simply make it up.

I don't share your confidence, spathi (and, incidentally, don't need your sympathy). You are a great believer in the "status quo". The status quo does not exit here in the UK any more than it does in the EU. Sharia Courts already have legal recognition here. There is a creeping but steady Islamification taking place. You suggest that LGBT communities are being accepted. Take a look at this:

im not sure if what she said has any bearing on the rotherham rape abuses, from what i have read, the young girls were considered fair game as they are kaffir and not of the book, it's this sense of justification as it's written in the koran, so to them thye did no wrong.
this mindset is worrying now and for the future.
