It is painful to watch a loved one suffer and die. We naturally grieve such a loss.

It is comforting to know, however, that our Creator, understands our grief. More than that, he longs to use his almighty power to restore life to the dead. Notice the hope conveyed in the words of Job, recorded at Job 14:14-15,says
If a man dies, can he live again?
I will wait all the days of my compulsory service
Until my relief comes.
15 You will call, and I will answer you.
You will long for the work of your hands.

//I've had enough of you and won't be saying anymore on this subject to you.//

Goodlife, if you drop the last two words from that sentence, I think everyone will be happier.
// Unless God is imperfect and sinful that’s nonsense.//

nonsense OK - god is good and perfect and all - knowing etc ( God 101 course), so yes the argument is nonsense

(a bit like saying in 1984 - Big Brother is double plus un-good)

// ve read the rest of the thread now and wonder why I bothered. The usual tedious claptrap about rules.//

I wonder why you bothered
and I wondered why I bothered
in fact - - we both wondered why we bothered - great thoughts on religion......

in fact I was gonna say - GoodLIfe has reappeared - so resurrection really IS possible....

In consider Job, the greatest of all the Orientals. He was “a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad.” (Job 1:2, 3, 8) Then, suddenly, he lost his ten children and all his thousands of sheep, camels, cattle, and she-asses.
That was not all. Job came to be completely covered with malignant boils, causing him to be physically nauseating. His own wife mocked him: “Are you yet holding fast your integrity? Curse God and die!” (Job 2:9) Job was being severely tried and humiliated, but he was completely unaware of the heavenly confrontation between Jehovah and the archrebel, Satan. The situation was not improved by the lengthy discussion with Job’s three “friends.” However, Job maintained his integrity. He even humbly accepted wise counsel from Elihu—a much younger man.—Job 32:4.
Was Job rewarded? Yes. Jehovah restored Job, doubled the size of his flocks, and gave him seven sons and three daughters—the prettiest in all the land! What a glorious outcome of Job’s humility! How true it proved to be—“before glory there is humility.”—Job 42:12-15.

Because also new that in God, time he wil have a resurrection in the new world,
13 O that in the Grave you would conceal me,
That you would hide me until your anger passes by,
That you would set a time limit for me and remember me.
Well, there’s a turn up for the book - so to speak. Goodlife doesn’t like being asked rational questions, I can only assume because rational questions are the ones he can’t answer.

//know this for sure, if you think we are preaching doom and gloom now, just wait a little longer and you will really know what we mean by doom & gloom.//

There you go again. Goodlife, try to understand. When I die that’ll be the end of it. I accept that and all your dire threats won’t change that. The simple fact is if, as you believe, this planet is destined to be populated solely by people who think as you do, you’re welcome to it. I want no part of it.

//Don't bother replying because I've had enough of you and won't be saying anymore on this subject to you.//

Your choice - but your fear of speaking to me won’t stop me commenting on your posts. Others studying the bible and asking questions you’d rather not hear makes life all too difficult for you, doesn’t it, Goodlife. How much simpler when you’re allowed to proselytize to the naïve without the inconvenient interruption of people who know the subject rather too well for your liking. Never mind Goodlife. We all have our cross to bear. :o)
Sorry GL, all your posts sound like you’ve been brainwashed !

(Goodlife, if you drop the last two words from that sentence, I think everyone will be happier)

I can no problem, but “Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah!”—PS. 144:15.
For many people happiness revolves around good health, material possessions, and pleasant companionship. Yet, there are people who have all of that but who are unhappy. For men and women dedicated to Jehovah God, the Bible provides a concept of happiness that is quite different from the general view.

By your rhetoric, are you a Jehovah’s Witness per chance?
Goodlife, if happiness is not about material things then why did Jehovah to quote you " double the size of his (Job's) flocks, and gave him seven sons and three daughters—the prettiest in all the land!"
Why bother if those sorts of things are not supposed to be important?
Bobbi, yes he is.
Arh right, well I’m gunna pretend I’m not at home now, thanks mays :0)
Goodlife,\\ For men and women dedicated to Jehovah God, the Bible provides a concept of happiness that is quite different from the general view.//
Can you explain this difference? I ask because you're always spreading doom and gloom which is a strange form of happiness.
I dont think they all died honestly
Jemima, Kezia and Karen-nephtha
with Jemima the most beautiful daughter

I dont think they were dead - as in dead daughters of Job

and Job as an oriental - I dont think even the Duke of Edinburgh would make that mistake
//“before glory there is humility.”//

Pity God didn’t practice a bit of humility. The story of Job - fundamentally a bet between God and Satan with Job as the fall guy - is one of the most immoral the bible has to offer. No glory for God in that.

Vulcan. The message, if you listen to JWs carefully, is far from 'doom & gloom'. The message is one of hope and happiness.
If you're honest, wouldn't you prefer to live in a world without pain, suffering, poverty, famine, homelessness. Happiness means different things to different people, depending upon their outlook on life. For many people happiness revolves around good health, material possessions, and pleasant companionship. Yet, some people have all that but are still unhappy. However, those who worship Jehovah happiness is inseparably related to God’s blessing. Viewed Biblically, happiness involves a sense of contentment, satisfaction, and fulfillment in Jehovah’s service. Hence, true happiness is contingent upon a right relationship with Jehovah. It is based on love of God and faithfulness to him.

Goodlife; do you really believe that God is male?
Goodlife, //It is based on love of God and faithfulness to him. //

You don't love God - you're terrified of him - and the only reason you're faithful to him is because you're terrified of him. Fear is not love.
Goodlife, you are mainly repeating your earlier statement but you do add contentment, satisfaction and fulfilment. Do you honestly believe people can only achieve these through the bible?

“All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them.”—Matthew 7:12.

Today, our high-tech world is self-centered. Few people think about others when their own convenience or supposed rights are at stake.

Why have so many become selfish, cruel, unfeeling, and self-centered? Is it not because the Golden Rule, though still widely known, is being brushed aside as unrealistic, a moral relic? Sadly, this is the case even among many who claim to believe in God. And judging by the way things are going, people will only become more more self-centered.
Goodlife, you do society an injustice. The vast majority by far of major charities are secular. There can be nothing more selfish than believing that you’re special in the eyes of a creator god. Religion is all about self.
