Same goes for this bloke referred to as jesus. Is there any reliable proof of his existence apart from stories in dubious books ?

A surprising number of people believe in the Adam & Eve story. The much lauded Creation Museum in the USA defies all rationality. As for Jesus, there is no reliable proof of his existence but personally I think he did exist - albeit as a man rather than a miracle.

Well, two things occur.

One, to quote from Shakespeare, “There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, / Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

Two, as The Buddha reputedly said on being questioned by people on the subject of rebirth, ‘it really isn’t important; what is important is that you live a good life now.’

On which basis I would suggest less sniping, more acceptance, and generally attempting calmness.

Allen
Theland, you never were the most modest of self-appointed martyrs.
I most certainly am not a self appointed martyr.
I have done nothing but respond to your spiteful little man comment.
I will not respond in kind, that is your forte not mine.
Good advice from Allen. Heed it.
//I most certainly am not a self appointed martyr.//

You're not? But you tell us constantly how you're abused here for your religion. Strange.

Heed Allen's advice? I think not. Like you, he doesn't practice what he preaches.
Yes I get abused, as you well know and can attest to, for Christian views.
Why?
Simple.
The beauty of anonymity, enabling folk, to verbalise their unfounded opinions, and feel superior for putting down a god botherer, bible thumper, holy Joe, etc etc etc.
You get my drift.
Do you think it is justified?
Oh you are quite correct there.
Do I practise what I preach?
Sadly, no.
I try to, but often fail.
I admit that.
But my corrupt character takes nothing away from the Christian message.
Challenging your unfounded opinions and your very clear disdain for those who disagree with you is perfectly justified.
Theland, you only get abused because you set yourself up to get knocked down. If that isn't "self appointed martyrdom" I'm not sure what is.
I set myself up to get knocked down?
I wonder how?
Should I camouflage the message of Christianity, to avoid personal criticism?
That would negate my integrity would it not?
Not at all, you believe what you believe, but many of the threads you create seem to be designed for the sole reason of inciting a "holy war" between yourself and the usual atheist crew. Plus you have a habit of dicussing views contrary to your own in a very dismissive way. You talk of "proof" of your faith, but only offer conjecture and opinion, you dodge any difficult questions and attempt to close down any conversation that isn't going your way.
I have no issue with your, or anyone else's beliefs, and will argu for your right to believe in whatever you wish, but if you go chasing tornados, you're going to get battered.

Try and be more understanding of other people's opinions, and you may get some understand of your back in return.
"...understanding of yours back in return."

My English is shot to death this morning.
I do understand others opinions, but I think they are wrong and unfounded.
I wish them well and !earn from them. they never let me get complacent in my beliefs. That's really important to me.
^Your opinions are unfounded.
I'm not passing my own opinions, only what scripture teaches.
Yes, and it's unfounded.
In your opinion.
No, not in my opinion. Fact requires proof. Where's yours?
Fact requires proof.
Fair enough.
Read the prophets.
Over and over they repeat Gods warnings and promises to the Jews.
Now read the history of the Jews.
Identical.
//Read the prophets. //

I've read them. I suggest you do likewise.
