God is real, hell is real, and it is your choice whether or not you wake up to reality and accept the free gift of salvation.
The alternative is too horrible to consider.
It is either / or, there is no other way.
Save yourself. Now.

Also, what's the point of eternal life? Is it simply reward/ punishment?
And, do you believe in ghosts? :-)
Question Author
You have and it didn't?
Really?
I'm afraid you have not given the prophecies due attention.
For example, the prophets describe in great detail the downfall of the Jews, and the desolation of the land of Israel.
Then the regathering of the Jews from all over the world, back to the land, the establishment of the state of Israel.
Its all there and you missed it? How?
Question Author
I don't believe in ghosts.
Before you question eternal life etc, simply appreciate the fact that the bible is true. All of it.
You have to live with that fact, or like so many, ridicule it, deny it, and live as best you can hoping there is no God to answer to.
But there is.
My issue is, the bible in its present form was basically cobbled together in the dark ages by a cabal of early bishops who wanted to formalize the structure of a pre existing faith. They had ample
opportunity to adapt and modify earlier texts to fit historical or mythological events . Bearing in mind this was within an extreme patriarchy one can hardly trust their judgement, bearing in mind the level of scientific attainment of humanity, one can hardly trust their knowledge, and bearing in mind the lack of international power structures and their desire to create and control one, one can hardly trust their motivation. There is more provable truth in Nature based paganism which believes in the need to live in harmony with the world. Everyday we find out more that this is true.
Theland. // simply appreciate the fact that the bible is true. All of it.//

Nonsense. Anything that contains contradictions cannot be claimed to be accurate - and certainly not true. I don’t know why I’m bothering to post this because you won’t read it, just as you don’t bother to read refutations of claims that prophecy is fulfilled.

https://infidels.org/library/modern/paul_carlson/nt_contradictions.html

And will you please stop using the word ‘fact’. You have no facts.
You’re simply seeking endorsement of your faith - and that you are unlikely to get from anyone who has considered the matter from an impartial perspective.

Finally, I don’t give a flying fig (and that could have been worse!) what you believe. What I do care about is the negative influence your vile diatribe may have on the vulnerable because you have no business whatsoever messing with anyone’s mind. Keep your nightmares to yourself and deal with them.
Years ago when the local building society closed I couldn't be bothered looking for somewhere else to deposit my cash and decided to just save myself.

It's worked out fine.
Theland. //The instruction given to every Christian is to tell people about the gospel of Christ//

I guess that's the closest I'm going to get in answer to my question 'Who appointed you to the job you claim to have?' You're not even telling us who issued the 'instruction'. Want to try again?
Theland, are you ok? You seem very troubled and I'm sure you've mentioned a lot of health issues in the past.
When I was a nurse I saw those who
professed the greatest faith at the end seem most troubled, most fearful, one asked me What if repentance isn't enough..... I said if you lived the best life you could then it is time to rest, My beliefs or lack of them would not be helpful there were many who simply had the quiet belief there was an afterlife and they would be reunited with their lost loved ones who passed a lot easier. Mostly those with no belief fell into two categories, fight for every last breath. Or give up and die,
alleluia!
I agree, tiggs. Theland, I don't have to appreciate the bible is true, or learn to live with it, because it isn't. Are you saying you think it's literally true, and not just or a mixture of allegories?
Since everything in nature ultimately dies, in my experience atheists accept that death is a fact of life. None of us particularly want to go but when our time comes we will go in the knowledge that oblivion can holds no fear.

Those of a gentle religious persuasion, however vague, but one founded on the principles of love, kindness, and a ‘belief that they will meet their loved ones again are the most likely to die smiling and content, and that I find rather beautiful.

Although Theland claims to follow no religion, he does in fact promote precisely the same message as the happy clappy brigade with their horrendous belief in hell, judgement, retribution and punishment, and for that reason both he and they, never knowing if they’ve done enough to pass the test, are the most afraid of the inevitable. Theland, I believe, because of his gruesome beliefs, suffers mental anguish - but rationality dictates that no compassionate man or god would ever subject a human being to such torment. Dwelling on images of death - especially an imaginary one of unthinkable horrors - is nothing more than a waste of wonderful life.
I find it interesting that those who opt to believe that 'God' gave them an ******* feel compelled to be an *******.
^Succinct.
I would love to believe in an afterlife, but being buried under a sapling, that will grow into a much needed tree will do. My gift will be the chemistry that feeds the tree, that may in time shelter birds, or squirrels. There is joy in that thought. I do feel so sorry for the hell and damnation brigade, they try to live up to the impossible model of a mythologised( possibly historical rebel leader) character who was no more the son of an imaginary God t h an any other man

I have simply restated the doctrines written in the bible, but ignored by mainstream churches and cowardly clergy.
But the bible is just edited stories , written as a rule book to control ignorant uneducated populations by a group of men seeking to secure their position within a society.
No you haven’t, theland. You’ve spouted a load of evil rubbish designed specifically by wicked men with the sole purpose intimidating and controlling - and I still don’t know who you think gave you the job.
Perhaps what they are attempting to ignore is that Christianity’s contempt for humanity is matched only by it’s own contemptibility.
//it is your choice whether or not you wake up to reality and accept the free gift of salvation//

Its NOT a free choice. Its an ultimatum.
Worship me or fry in hell.
