Christmas Lights, But No Christmas

My Google logo today is made from 'Christmas lights', and bears the uplifting message, 'Seasonal Holidays'.
Is this yet another ploy to put Christianity on the back-burner and brain-wash our youth and the gullible ?

Now is the Advent Season (or according to Silicon Valley a 'seasonal holiday') which is, or has been, about reflecting on how we can "prepare our hearts and homes for Christ's birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections, special music, and good deeds what the true meaning of Jesus' birth is." Once you get religion out of the way, the West becomes a formless entity, with materialism & globalism replacing Christianity.

Corby, It's not easy to answer that. It reminds me of Maureen Lipman when asked, 'Are you a practising Jew" she said " I'm always practicing, but you can never get it right".
I'm certainly a what you might call a 'Culture Christian' & I go to church(es) quite a lot.
I've also spent a lot of time studying Eastern religions.
I can't imagine the paucity of a life without a spiritual dimension to it.

Thanks mate. Having built my first computer in 1979, set up my IT consultancy business in 1983, my software development business in 1985, and my hardware integration company in 1989, followed by my network systems management firm, I find it's always interesting to get advice from a punter.

I'm a practicing Christian but that message doesn't offend me. Many non-Christians celebrate the commercial version and of course Pagans celebrate Yule on the 21st.
I receive Christmas cards from friends and relatives of all faiths and none, it is good that everyone can have something to look forward to during the winter months.
