True faithful followers today want to know when God’s Kingdom would begin ruling. Jesus answered their question by saying that they would not know exactly when it would rule over the earth. (Acts 1:6, 7) But, earlier, he had told them that when his followers see a certain group of events happening all at once, they would “know that the Kingdom of God [was] near” and that the time for it to rule the world had come.—Luke 21:31.

First, man hadn’t been on the earth 5 billion years. The Bible says 6000 years. There are no actual records of ancient man, his writing, agriculture, and other pursuits, extending into the past before 4026 B.C.E., also Fossil records in the earth provide no link between man and the animals.

The apostle contrasts the spiritual man with the physical man. He says: “But a physical man does not receive the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him.” (1Co 2:14) This “physical man” does not mean merely one living on earth, one with a fleshly body, for, obviously, Christians on earth have fleshly bodies. The physical man here spoken of means one who has no spiritual leaning to the Bible.
Goodlife, //First, man hadn’t been on the earth 5 billion years. The Bible says 6000 years. //

The bible is wrong.

The modern form of "Man" may have been on Earth (in Africa) for around 300,000 years but "civilisation" (farming, trade, in the Middle East) is around 6,000 years old.
"The Bible says 6000 years". Where does it state that?
As far as I'm aware it doesn't, Corby - rationally it couldn't. However, Goodlife is talking about the bible selectively constructed by the Jehovah's Witnesses so rather than me trail tediously through my copy of it, perhaps he'll let us know.
If there was a God,he would not have allowed Brexit.
The 'Lion-Man' was found just a few miles from where I now live, it can be seen in the B.M. & it is 40,000 years old

"Fossil records in the earth provide no link between man and the animals."

When did the first animals appear on earth?

There are two spiritual Kingdoms and people are either in one or the other. They are the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of Darkness. There will be a 1000 year period, called the Millenium when Jesus will rule on earth. Satan will be bound up during this period. Following that Satan will be released and there will be one final battle between Good and Evil

The Bible doesn't say how old the Earth is but it does contain a load of family trees which bishop James Ussher worked backwards through to the Genesis creation story and concluded that the Earth was created in October 4004 BC. That's where the 6000 comes from.

Radagast, As I said, the bible is wrong - and so was Bishop Ussher. Absolute tripe.

Fiveleaves, why would an almighty, all powerful God need to do battle with anything or anyone?  Don't you ever look at anything with a rational eye?

I'll be glad if the rapture happens. All the Bible bashers can go off to paradise and we'll enjoy some peace and quiet.

The wise man ‘treasures up knowledge,’ has a fund of it to draw upon. (Prov. 10:14)

But if he gets real understanding of the reason for that command, the good purpose it serves and the benefits accruing from it, his heart determination to continue in that wise course is greatly strengthened. (Prov. 14:33)

Such a shame the prov author didn't understand then. Ah well, that's life.

Of course Bishop Ussher was wrong, but he had an excuse. He did his calculation in the 17th century long before radioactivity was discovered and when it was commonplace to take the Bible literally. The people of today don't have such an excuse. Radiometric dating of meteorites puts the age of the Earth at about 4500000000 years.

Radagast, I got lost in the zeros there.  I think the earth is about 4.5 billion years old.

About 13.8 billion years ago, the universe sprang into existence in an event known as the big bang.

Source; Hubble - Space Telescope

I can confirm the veracity of this, as I was there 🙄

4.5 billion = 4500000000. I expressed it with zeros to show how ridiculously far out 6000 is.

If you want any more info. on the start of the Earth & universe, or, if your faith is waining, or you would like to listen to  erudition with a bit of fun thrown in, you could do no better than watch this for half and
