I have read few of the testimonies from the list provided by Octavius. Of course there are people who left Islam and became Hindu, Christian or even atheists. But number is not as high as other way around. There are few reasons for that. Many None Muslims give the reason given here by Lonnie. Although that might be true only up-to a very limited level and even that perhaps in remote areas. Because people have misconceptions without first hand knowledge. In the beginning when I told here that I went to a church run school in Pakistan, few were shocked as according to them there are no churches in Pakistan.
As many as I have known so far who left Islam for any other religion, did that only to follow their personal desires about gambling, adultery, alcoholism, to marry a none Muslim and few other reasons as they found more cushioning there. Islamic stance on certain things is strong, practical, and clear.
Main reason that why it never happened on a grand scale in last 1400 years is that Islam gives you the answers to all of your questions. As a human that is all what you need.

Personally I think they are perfectly good reasons for leaving Islam. The first three are certainly practised by the Saudi rulers, who generally tend to live in Monte Carlo for most of the year.

Practiced by the Saudi rulers. I think these are practiced by many others too. But that does not make Islam different nor does it make them Muslims. And I am sure that would not give them any benefit of the doubt on the day of judgment as compared to the ones who left Islam all together.
As far as about being good reasons. Then I am sure people can see even without Islam, Christianity or any other religion what these good reasons have and are giving to our societies.

Perhaps, but I am not sure then why people are always moaning about other things, like broken families, teen age pregnancies, teenage yobs, binge drinking, sexually transmitted diseases, social problem, unequal distribution of wealth and list will keep on going.
So perhaps, freedom in certain things may make you captive or addicted in others even worse. So people are free to choose if they only need freedom at any cost.

I suppose we should look at the reasons why these people are becoming militants and terrorists, and as a result are wasting their lives and that of the others with no gain here or hereafter.
I suppose we should try to ascertain what came first, militancy or double standards and neglect of few issues.
I think it is easier to work out than the other saying who came first, egg or chicken.

^^ Make your own mind up about that one.
Keyplus. You appear to think that anyone who lives without the dubious benefits of Islam leads some sort of debauched, corrupt and immoral life. We hear this constantly from you, and it's an insult, so lets get it straight once and for all. It just so happens that most people are confident in their own abilities, they are self-sufficient, they are masters of their own mind, they don't need a book, a preacher, or anything or anyone else to tell them how to live - and yet they still manage quite easily to lead perfectly respectable and responsible lives. I've seen plenty of sights on the streets of Islamic countries that I've found to be totally and utterly abhorrent - in fact sickening - and if thats what Islam offers, you can keep it. Rather than continuously taking the moral high ground with non-believers, perhaps you would be far more usefully employed in concentrating on putting your own house in order.

Terambulan, Muslims do not depend on mosques or Imams as much as the followers of other religions do.
Put it like this, In Islam you do not need a priest as a link sitting on the otherside of the wall to take your confession. In Islam you can pray to God directly without Imams and even without mosque.
